I was considering getting this diamond: Oval 1.18 D VS2 Ideal GIA 64.3% 59% VG/VG 1.43 $ 5,260. The only thing that really bothers me is the floresence, it is medium blue. Should this be bothering me or not? Any help would do.

Welcome Pevo.https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/introducing-big-blue-10th-anniv-upgrade-pt-2.28744/

If you check this thread there are pictures of a D colour diamond with MB fluoresence for you to see. The effects on a D diamond can depend, the price may be a little less due to the fluoro, I am not sure if medium blue would give a milky or oily appearance in a D diamond, I would think that would be strong blue so this might be a very pretty diamond like the one in the thread

. Many here love fluoresence and see it as a real benefit, especially in warmer colours. Have you seen it? If you can, check it out in sunlight and other lights and see what you think, personally I like fluoresence however there might be " purists" who would prefer a D colour to have none whatsoever.

it is bothering you because you can see the effects of it in the stone, or because you have heard that fluorescence is bad?

Its is bothering me because I have never bought a diamond before and am kind of worried if it does indeed look cloudy. I found it at dirt cheap diamonds and have not seen it yet. What is the best way to go about that?

Get DCD to call the diamond in for you , they will look at it and give you an honest opinion. They have a good return policy also, I wouldn't have thought that MB would look cloudy, strong blue possibly, the only way you can really tell is to look at the diamond and see for yourself. I don't think that a cloudy appearance is the norm, I think it is more the exception than the rule. Belle?

lorelei is exactly right.

med. blue usually isn''t a problem but have dcd give you their professional opinion as to wheter or not the stone is adversly effected. if it is not, have them ship the stone for you to look at. they have a generous return policy, so if you find you don''t like the stone you can send it back.
best of luck!

the stone sounds wondeful spec-wise............the only thing the fluorescense will so is save you money. you and i have the EXACT same stone (specwise).......no issue

Thanks everyone, you all have been a big help. DCD has just recieved and this what they said about it ----

The medium blue flourescence does NOT affect this diamond''s brilliant or beauty in any way shape or form. The stone faces a watery white and has a very minimal bowtie. If I have a chance today, I will photograph the stone and send you over a few images. ----

Does any of this information bother any of you? I will be getting pictures shortly so I hope I know how to post them. Thanks again.

I have a few pics that I would like to show you. Is there a easy of doing this??

You can attach ''em ("attach file" button) or insert an image if you put it elsewhere online (little button that looks like a picture of mountains and sun).
