what do you think of the following diamond:

1.578
G
SI2 (eye clean; feather on edge which should be covered up by the prong)
I looked at a number of diamonds and thought this was much clearer than many SI1''s and close to VS2. the feather is immediatley noticeable under a loupe, but i can''t see it with the naked eye.
Hearts and Arrows (AGS 000)
depth: 62.1
table: 54
crown angle: 33.7
pavilion angle: 41.0
girdle: 1.2-1.5
7.45-7.48x4.64
price $10,800
i actually bought this from a bricks and mortar and got to talking to him and overheard the company he buys his diamonds from. i saw my diamond on their inventory sheet. i''m curious how much they mark it up.

The diamond scores a 1.3 EX on the HCA with EX EX VG VG. Not bad..

The depth is a little steep at 62 but the crown angle is more shallow to compensate..so probably is very beautiful in person.

When you say H&A....is it a branded stone or just a H&A stone? The depth seems a little out of range for a TRUE H&A stone so maybe it's what I like to call an almost H&A.

But if it looks good to you, and the patterns of H&A are visible and seem clear and crisp...then your deal sounds good. The price is inline for the G SI2 esp if the cut is very good which it sounds to be.

I would get an independent appraisal to confirm everything...but overall, enjoy your new stone!

Do a search here on Price Scope for a G SI2 stone of that size. Your stone is being listed for $9255 by Good Old Gold. So I guess your answer is a $1500 mark-up.

I'm not sure if it's branded or what you mean. It was on the AGS cert and it's inscribed AGS H&A on the girdle or something to that effect.
