Hello Everyone,
I went to a local jewelry store to buy a loose diamond and this is what i might buy:-
Round, 1.05c, Ex-Cut and symmetry, Vg-Polish, F-Color, SI2 (very eye clean...we did not see any inclusions, some clouds on the side using a loupe)
Medium griddle. For $5450+tax. It is GIA certified and comes with a FOREVERMARK (apparently something new DeBeers starting)
what do you think? Thank you.

Ps: what’s a forevermark…I googled it but not much info

Nobody will be able to tell you anything accurate without knowing a little more about the diamond:

Total depth %
Table diameter %
Crown angle (degrees)
Pavilion angle (degrees)
Girdle: Medium

Ask the seller to provide you with images of the diamond as seen through an ASET, Ideal Scope and Gems Fantasy Scope or at least show you the diamond through those scopes so that you can compare the images to well cut diamonds here on PS. The article

The pavilion angle is a bit steep, what I would do is to ask to check the diamond out away from the store lights if possible to see how it looks and to check for light leakage. Look carefully at the diamond to see if there are any dark rings around the table or dark areas on the surface of the diamond, if not you should be ok. Or even better order one of these and check the diamond out.

Also if it has grade setting clouds as you mention you could see them ( look on the report to see if clouds are drawn on the clarity plot) then it might be a good idea to make the sale final on it checking out with an independant appraiser and get them to check the clouds aren't impacting brilliance.

GIA allows too broad of a range in their "excellent" cut category, so we absolutely must know the crown and pavilion angles to know if this stone is well cut. Can you write down all the info or call the store and ask for the certificate number? Then you can look it up on the GIA's website (google "GIA report check").

Once you know more about your stone, you can search on here to see what similar stones are going for to see how you feel about the deal.

ETA: I saw you already know its angles. You can use the Cut Adviser under Tools to see if the stone has potential. Scores of 2 and below are the goal.

So the cut advisor score is 3.2. My fiancee saw about 10 diamonds today and liked this one the best.
She says that she likes the diameter, no visible inclusions (she saw some in a vs2) in the table, nice fire, etc.
So instead of disagreeing with her (she is the one wearing the ring) I am going to buy it.
Do you think it''s a good deal for $5450+tax?

The diamond you listed could be nice. If you're wanting that one, I'd buy it contingent on it passing inspection with an independant appraiser. Have them take a look at it, and if it passes, take back for setting. If you go that route, make sure the store has a good return policy, one that gives you your money back, not store credit.

May not be eyeclean, but you can't tell from pics/plots. The vendor needs to look at it. Would get a 2% PS dicount.
