Hi everyone,

Good thing I found PS.
I need your opinions on this stone, please let me know what you thing, any comments are welcomed!

EGL cert (non-USA)
1.31ct, Round
G, VS1, EX-cut, Ex-polish, Ex-symmetry
7.08-7.06-4.32, Depth 61.1%, Table 56%, Crown 15%, Pavilion 43%, Culet - none (pointed)
Girdle: M
Flor: None
HCA score: 0.9-EX, EX-EX-EX-VG
Wire Transfer Price: $7200

Sounds like a pretty good deal to me :) The only problem is that it''s an EGL cert, and I won''t be able to view the stone myself over the internet

The comments on EGL cert are so "attractive" too (I know EGL non-USA likes to put those comments on their certs), haha...

- "EXCELLENT IDEAL CUT" - The quality of the cut of this diamond achieves Excellence in symmetry and portortions, thus obtaining the optimal dispersion of light and brilliance.
- 8 HEARTS & 8 ARROWS

So any thoughts? Please throw down anything... I got my heads in the stone sands so deep and I need a fresh breath of opinions!

Thanks everyone!
Love PS, love diamonds!

This stone scored a .9 on the Holloway Cut Advisor. That is an excellent score. As far as the color and clarity... It's hard to say since you can't see the diamond in real life before purchasing. Does the seller allow a return policy/window? That way you could order it and return it if you are not satisfied. Should be a real sparkler, though!

ETA- Just relaized that you already did the HCA... Sorry!

Thanks stone-cold, I should check out USA-certed then...
It''s interesting that many dealers actually listed a same stone...

Thanks Tuckins1!
I know, when I did the HCA, I was like wow...
And the specs do look awesome, on paper.
I know PS is not a big fan on EGL -non USA. The color might be slightly over-rated... but realistically it might still be between H-I in GIA standard...

It is a virtual stone, meaning the vendors share a common database of stone. They price it independently though, so checking using the pricescope your diamond with search all function will let you get the cheapest stone.

Good luck, just know that you might be getting a lower color and clarity grade than what is state on the cert if the stone is graded by GIA/AGS.

I just ordered (and returned!) a diamond purchased on the internet. It was an EGL rated I color. I''ve had a GIA rated I diamond before and it was beautiful. The EGL stone was easily 2 color grades down compared to the GIA diamond that I had. I''m not sure about the clarity. If you do decide to go with EGL, I would recommend going up much higher in quality and color.

Well, he got that covered with a G VS1. Even dropping 2 grades will still be a near colorless and SI clarity stone.

Thanks for the heads up 2babycarrots!
That''s my biggest concern too: how far down the ratings are?
Why can''t GIA or AGS just rule the whole world? :)

Just a side note: did you ask the dealer to send you the pictures of the stone before you purchased it? Can you tell the color on the pic?

Maybe I should reconsider my options here...

If you are interested in this diamond, ask Martin from USACerted to send you an Idealscope image and some detailed photos, then if you pull the trigger get the diamond appraised during the return period. Here is a tool you can use to find an independant appraiser in your area, EGL are thought to vary according to which lab has actually graded the diamond so an appraisal would be a good move. Also because a diamond is touted as being a hearts and arrows stone doesn't necessarily mean it meets the strict standards set for this cutting style. However if it does display a nice arrow pattern and that is what you want then that could be fine.

Also you can't use photos to get any accurate idea of diamond colour or lack of I am afraid.
