Ok, so I have been MIA for a while but I need your help! I hope you guys can give me some opinions on what cut these stones are.

The first is from the 1940's probably around 1942. The second I have no Idea when it was cut but was purchased in 2006 by my husband who honestly had no Idea what he was buying, he just liked the way it looked.

There's just one ring posted, right? It looks like a round brilliant to me.

eta: sorry, now I see it! - the second looks like an oec to me. Pretty!

The first diamond appears to be a transitional cut with a rather large table and pointed culet that would put it in the 1930-1950's period mentioned. The transitional period from OEC to Modern cut time frame.

The second diamond with the smaller table, shorter lower girdle facets (halves) and somewhat open culet facet does look like OEC.

Your pendant is gorgeous Bethprov!

Does the first pendant picture look like the stone has fluorescence?

Beautiful pendant stone.

Junebug17, Christina and sonomacounty- Thank you for your input! I have never noticed any fluoro in person however, I do see what you mean in the pic. When it was still my engagement ring I didn't even know what fluorescence was. Now that it's a pendant I have never really noticed or thought about it, I'll have to take a look.

Oldminer- That makes sense to me that the first one would be transitional. I have wondered about the cut ever since it was given to me and all of these beatiful antique stones got me thinking maybe it wasn't a modern round brilliant based on when it was purchased. It looked to me that if it was, it's not so well cut because the table is very large and In some lights it's absolutely beautiful then in others it is dark. As for the pendant, after I started to learn about different cuts I realized it probably was an OEC but wanted some validation from those that know more about these things than I do :D This is why I love pricescope!

Either way, they both have alot of sentimental value and I love them. When I first discovered pricescope I became very critical of all of the jewelry I had before I knew anything about diamonds. That has passed some and I have come to love and enjoy them for what they are. Now if I could just stay away from Pricescope more and stop looking at everyone's gorgeous eye candy maybe I could stop dreaming up new projects!
