The information on this website is amazing. Thank you so much. I've read a lot and have made a decision on what I think is a stellar diamond, but I do have some questions which I value your opinions on.

I'll be setting it in a yellow gold band (white setting). Because of that, I'm less concerned than I would be with the I color than if it was going on a white band. Is there a "comparison" color grade for setting in yellow gold vs. white gold? Meaning, if you were comfortable with a G in a white band, would you be comfortable with an I in a yellow gold band?

The pavilion angle of 41.0 is 0.1 outside the "perfect" range. While I don't know the variance of angles, assuming it was tight to a 41.0, how much does this turn you off compared to the 40.6 - 40.9 pavilion angle range? Also, the crown angle is 34.5, so I'm hoping that offsets this minor variance.

Also I was wondering if there is a thing as too much contrast... there is a little more blue on the AGSL image than usual.

As far as your questions on color and "comparison" stones, there is no way to make that sort of connection. Color is entirely a personal preferance thing. It is all up to the wearer, but a lot of folks are happy with I color in platinum or white gold settings. I personally think the I color will look fine, but you need to know that for yourself. If what you meant was the band is yellow gold but the prongs will be white gold, I like that idea too.

As far as your stone selection, there is such a thing as too much contrast, though I personally don't think the stone you posted is going to have that issue. Are you getting the setting from James Allen or just a loose diamond? I ask because I did a search and there are stones that don't have perfect h&a but still have good h&a with nearly identical size but much cheaper (over $1,500 less). If you want to stick with JA or have your heart set on perfect h&a, I won't mention any other stones to complicate matters. Also, is there a reason for the really high clarity?

just get a higher color and si1 :wall:

pfunk, thanks for the thoughtful response. With regards to the H&A image, I don't really care about the H&A image, I've been more using it as a proxy for the proper angles. If you can find a non H&A with pavilion angle of 40.6-40.9 and a crown 34-35, I'd be happy to look at it.

With regards to the clarity, it really bothers me when I click a diamond and it looks like this when the window pops up:

Even if it is eye clean and doesn't impact the light performance... it really bugs me. I'd be fine with a VS1 / VS2, but I couldn't find any that met the cut specs or was cheaper than the one I found.

Not much time to post now for you, but this is one I found.
