Hi Everyone,

I''m just needing a little advice and I thought who best to ask but Pricescopers??!!! I have a right hand ring that my husband gave me for our 1st year wedding anniversary. I just find it a little too big to wear now...and no longer practical as I have 2 little kids that I''m constantly needing to carry. So before I start posting pics, here''s what I''m needing help with.

I''m not one for having diamonds just hanging around, gathering dust...especially those that were given as a gift to mark a special occasion (it makes me feel bad

). And so, I was wanting to reset the diamonds into a shared prong eternity band to wear with my existing wedding stack. That way, I would be wearing it daily. I would assume that it would be no bigger than 1.0mm-1.5mm in width when finished...as the diamonds are very small...but this suits me just fine.

The first set of pics are of my right hand ring.
The second, of my current wedding stack.
The third, of my intended re-set design.

Do you think the re-set would fit nicely with my existing stack?

I was initially looking at a 4 pt - 5 pt eternity band (approx. 2.5-2.8mm in width) before considering re-setting my right hand ring. Do you think that if I got the re-set done that adding an additional 4-5pt eternity band in the future would be an overkill? Which combination do you think would be most flattering?

Thanks, in advance, for your advice.

Hmm. I definitely like the idea of turning it into an eternity, but I personally think it might be too busy if you add it to what you already wear. BUT - there''s no reason you can''t mix and match and play with what you wear on a daily basis.

I''d place the re-set eternity just above my wedding band. If I were to purchase the larger 4-5pt eternity, I would place this above the full bezel band (to top the stack).

Thanks, again, everyone.....

I personally think your left hand finger is maxed out. I think its good the way it is. I think if you do any resetting
(which I like the shared prong eternity ring idea) then I think you should wear it on your right hand or maybe on
your pointer finger on your left hand if you are trying to keep your right hand free.

Have you priced out having the reset done? I'm wondering if its going to be cost effecting (you may not care
since it is sentimental)? Seems like for a full eternity it will be pretty labor intensive and may cost a lot.

Edit - I was just looking at your ring again. Could you possibly have the two round circles making the points
removed and have the ring turned more into a flower shape? It still will be a bit on the large size but may
make it easier to wear becasue it wont be as long. I dont know if there are enough diamonds in those
2 circles to have a partial eternity ring made. Just thought I'd throw the idea out there. Also might consider
turning it into a pair of earings? I need to go back and look at the picture again to see if it could be taken
apart in a way that would be good for a pair of earings.

Ok, for the earing idea (now that I''ve looked at your ring again)....I would remove the 3 round circles at the top
and bottom of the ring and turn those into earings. The you should be left with a ring that has 3 small flowers
going across which should be a more wearable ring. Of course I have no idea what the bottom of your ring
looks like and whether this can be done easily.

I agree your stack does look full but you could mix and match on a regular basis. All your stackers are very pretty. I think your RHR is pretty but it does seem like it would get in the way while your taking care of your kids

have you thought about making a pendant out of the diamonds? I think your finger is maxed out too and if you don''t want to have a ring hanging around that you don''t wear, I would do a pendant. Maybe a circle of life like this:

I think this sounds like a brilliant idea. Additionally, just taking all of the melee out of the current settings w/o damage would be tremendously labor intensive ... I think you''d wind up spending much more than a new eternity band would cost if you went this route. TyTy''s idea lets you keep the spirit of the thing, *and* is probably somewhat more affordable, *and* you get earrings!

Your stack is one of my favorites! I''m thinking another eternity band may be too much (it looks perfect to me now), but that doesn''t mean you can''t wear some on one day and more on another.
I really like the pendant idea. It looks like a great way to reuse your diamonds.

I personally LOVE the rhr! It is so fun and unique, but I also understand not wanting to have diamonds being wasted in a drawer. If it were me, I would take the RHR off during the day, and wear it regularly when I went out at night or other occassions.

I think the ring would be better served as a pendant ... perhaps it could be flattened out a bit & hung. Very small stones like that cost more in labor to be removed & reset than they would to be replaced. You could *purchase* a small eternity band for much less than a ring project will cost. I understand wanting to preserve the sentiment of the RHR .. but perhaps a pendant that would be worn occasionally is a good alternative?

ETA: I agree with the others that your GORGEOUS ENVIABLE stack is maxed out! Don't think I'd anything for daily wear ... but maybe a colored stone stacker for fun sometimes, or for switching out. Enjoy that amazing stack!

EETA: Love the earring + ring idea above ... but also just thought of another idea ... what if you had a jeweler separate all nine of the flower sections & then had them strung with sections of chain as a Diamonds By The Yard type "station" necklace. Very short ... 15' choker length so it would just nestle. An odd number is good because there'd be a flower that landed in the center front. Oh, I like that!

A mix and match option, as others suggested, sounds like your best bet!

Oooohhhh, excellent!! I go to sleep and 7 hours later....vwa la....responses....yey!!!!

geckodani, MMT and MC: I had never really thought of this. Definitely an option!!

tyty: Earrings would have been great but mine have closed as I have not worn earrings for years....and years

. Thank you for your suggestion, though.

paulaw: I LOVE this idea!!!!

If I decide against a full eternity ring, then I''ll definitely consider a pendant like this! Thank you!

circe: I never really considered this. I''ll be going in on Friday to have a chat to the jewellers so we''ll see what they have to say. If it''s not going to be cost effective, I may have to re-consider the whole thing

tigian: Thank you

EHR: I loved it, too, but I''m now always afraid of scratching my kids. It''s just not practical for me anymore

decodelighted: Your choker idea is just toooooooooo cute!!!

I think a bracelet of the same concept would suit me a little better, though.

What a great idea!!! If it''s going to be too labour intensive (hence, expensive) to take the diamonds out for re-setting, this would be perfect!

Thank you for all of your comments and suggestions...they''re really much appreciated!

Ditto to all of the above! I was going to suggest a pendant, too! Definitely not worth resetting these stones. And I agree that your left hand ring finger is maxed out...the ones you have look beautiful!

Thank you, diamondseeker! I really hadn''t thought of the labour costs...I just assumed that not having to purchase the diamonds would have signficantly outweighed getting a new one made. Shows how little I know

I love your stacks of rings. They look lovely together. I can''t think of any more suggestions but I believe they would charge you a fortune in labor. Good luck.

I too would save it as is. It marks your first anniversary! And I would wear it regularly, maybe even schedule events to wear the ring to. That way you and hubby get out more and the ring stays the same and you have more money for a daytime RHR.

!!! the more i read, the more i''m thinking that re-setting isn''t the most feasible option

. I suppose that''s what these forums are for...to acquire information from those who are more knowing. thank you all the same.

What about turning the whole thing, as is, into a pendant?
