What do you think on this diamond for a pendant?

Too deep, going to be looking dead. This stone is a no go. Also, it will look smaller than similar weight stone of ideal cut. Ideal cut 0.92c stone having a 6.2mm compared to this stone of 6.04mm.

What is your budget and specs you are looking for?

Yikes, ditto Sc. I know you can do better. If you would like some help, we''re here. Just ask!

Welcome chinagurl,

Pass on this diamond, it has too much depth and a very steep pavilion angle, you can do much better. If you would like, post your budget and what you are looking for and we can post some diamonds which might suit you.

ok! the hubby is giving me 2500 to spend on a new pendant. he wants to get me something special since we are expecting our first baby :)
ideally i would like 1ct but i''m doubtful with the budget i''m on. thanks for the help! you guys are the best.

Is that budget just for the stone, or stone and pendant?

Ditto Miss Ellen! And congrats on the baby!

I think just the stone... if it includes the setting then thats even better :P

Ok, in the meantime, assuming that's for the whole enchilada.

Here's a suggestion. The diamond would get a 2% PS dicount off the listed price, and the diamond is upgradable if you wanted bigger in the future.

The diamond. (there's no way to get the 1 ct. without a lot of sacrifices) Go for cut first.

With this setting in WG.

Unless you had a particular setting in mind.

lol Talked to my son too long before submitting!

Thanks! We''re pretty excited too!

I saw this one in person and fell in love with it. The price tag was 5K with 40% taken off already!!! Do you think Whiteflash would be able to recreate this? Can I also get some honest opinion on the style? Yay or nay? Or should I stay with something like the solitare which is more traditional.

They might be able to do something along similar lines with the pendant but that would bump the price up with the melee diamonds.

I''m sure they could create it, not sure how much it would run. You''d need to show it to them and get a quote.

It''s pretty, but somewhat dressy. Maybe that is what you''re after? I prefer simple settings where I can wear it every day, or dressed up. But it''s totally what you want, it''s not "wrong"!

I currently have a .5ct. I''d like a 1ct. It has always been an inside joke between my husband and I that for each child he''ll get me 1carrot (har har). How much do you think I would have to spend for a decent 1ct? Yes, it might sound shallow but I''d like it to look big. Since its a very special occasion for us and he''ll be presenting it in front of our friends and family.

I can''t get HoF to load. What does the pendant look like?

As for whether you should get a solitare or something else. It really depends on you. I just got the pendant in my AV and, yes I could have gotten a solitare pendant, but I wanted something different. I''m generally like that though. What''s your personal style? I never regret going with unique pieces over the classics, but I know some people do.

When calling WhiteFlash - is there someone I should ask to speak to? TIA!

I tried to attach a file but it was too big. Sorry, I''m a newbie. The pendant looks very much like a tear drop with a center stone. I''m a very simple girl so when I saw it in the store I was surprised at how much I like it. I don''t think I would regret it because it is something different and it is for a very special occasion.

It sounds lovely! (Stupid website still won't load for me). Your pics have to be uniquely named (so do something like chinaGRLHof1) and under a certain size (microsoft picture manager/ edit picture/ resize/small webpage always works for me).

Do you have any idea what your color tolerance is? Infinity has some lovely lower colored diamonds. I've seen one of their M's bezel set and it's knock out.

For a one carat pendant. Well, if you make some sacrifices on clarity or color you can get under 5K for the entire thing.

Here''s a stone I found the other day and thought it was a steal. 1 carat, H... and it is an I clarity, but looks like it might be eyeclean. Wink (owner of HPD) can set it for you too.

Or this one? Not sure what color you are looking at though.

This one is already under consideration by the look of it.

I just got off the phone with WhiteFlash. I should be getting a quote for the setting by tomorrow afternoon. Fingers cross! And she also recommanded this stone:

http://www.whiteflash.com/round/Round-cut-diamond-2083784.htm

Report: GIA
. Shape: Round
. Carat: 0.90
. Depth %: 62.5
. Table %: 58
. Girdle: STK-TK
. Measurements: 6.08-6.12X3.81
. Polish: Excellent
. Symmetry: Very Good
. Culet: None
. Fluorescence: None

That's a nice diamond. I like it much better than the first one posted. Do they have pics of it, and is it eyeclean? I hope they come in with a qoute that will work for you because I FIRMLY believe in getting what you love, and if you love that design, they if you can comfortably get it, it's totally worth it.

Girdle is thicker than ideal so the stone will face up smaller, about 0.1mm off the diameter from ideal. But the angles looks good.

Its a hair deep and the girdle a bit thick ( although it might only be in a very small area), if the diamond is eyeclean then it could be a definite contender.

This is the quote I just received from WhiteFlash regarding the custom setting. What do you guys think?

I think that means that the back is covered. In the original pendant, you can see your skin behind the pendant in the space between the stone and the melee diamonds, but not in this design.

That means the back of the pendant will be covered so as to not infringe on the original design. WF should be able to send you an image or mock up for your approval so you can see exactly what they mean.
