What do you think of this?

The effects of braces are very much less dramatic than most plastic surgery.

So would it be correct to say that the acceptance of physically-changing procedures such as braces and the disapproval of plastic surgery is based on the subjective determination of the overall effects of a given procedure?

BTW, I am not siding with any particular point of view. Just trying to understand.

The line will be very different for each individual. I am very sure that some see absolutely nothing wrong with a ton of plastic surgery and others will frown on messing with what Mother Nature gave us.

That man doesn't deserve to have had a child. I have so many choice words for him, but they're all inappropriate for this forum. :angryfire: This kind of crap never would have flown in the US I'm hoping but it still makes me sick to think about. What about genetic issues? I'm SURE he isn't "perfect" (his personality sure isn't). Ugh so mad I can't even form logical sentences! :angryfire:

A huge majority of women wear make up.
They don't want to look natural.

We, men and women, have been brainwashed by the industries that profit that what's natural is not attractive.

Sad.

Kenny,
I very much agree with regards to makeup and high heels. The right makeup applied professionally changes the features of the face dramatically! Then, there's makeup used to hide flaws and what not. Why is it acceptable for men to go without makeup but not women? Let's not even get started with those pointy contraptions called high heels that aren't good for the feet.

Another thought that may or may not have been mentioned yet. I highly doubt he would have been upset about an "ugly" child if it had been a boy.

I'm sorry, but if I was the judge I'd have this jerk ordered to be immediately castrated that way we'd be sure he never have a child ugly or not.

There are certainly a lot of ppl who are ugly on the inside... but to link this incident to CHina's one child policy is a bit of a stretch.

What do I think...I think you PICK your mate/ spouse/ lover whoever...YOU DON'T pick your child. This guy should get hit by a car as far as i'm concerned.

If I see someone with perfectly straight teeth, I assume they've had braces. I know people have straight teeth without them (I'm one of those people), but it's a pretty safe assumption. If I see an attractive person, I wouldn't assume it is due to plastic surgery. If I were dating someone who had straight teeth I wouldn't hesitate to ask if they had braces (not for DNA purposes, just out of curiosity). If I were dating a really good looking person, it would never occur to me to ask if they had plastic surgery.

Didn't this guy ever meet her family? Or see photos of her as a child?

No matter how homily the child is she's got half of his genes. What's his excuse?

Demi Moore's daughters look nothing like her. It happens naturally as genes get mixed up. Attractive people don't always have attractive kids. Oh well...

I'm sure it is also mostly cultural. The Chinese place a ton of value on males and females are still considered worthless. An unattractive male can "score" a pretty wife but an unattractive female will have a harder time finding a good looking partner. Even the Chinese outside of China pressure daughter-in-laws to keep trying until they have a son. Some MILs even scold their DILs right after she gives birth for having a daughter. Sad but true. Unfair but it still happens today.
