Divorces are never pretty, but this one got pretty ugly -- literally.
A Chinese man divorced and then sued his ex-wife for giving birth to what he called an extremely ugly baby girl, the Irish Times reported.

Initially, Jian Feng accused his wife of infidelity, so sure that he could never father an unattractive child.
When a DNA test proved that the baby was his, Feng's wife came clean on a little secret -- before they met, she had undergone about $100,000 worth of cosmetic surgery in South Korea.

Feng sued his ex-wife on the grounds of false pretenses, for not telling him about the plastic surgery and duping him into thinking she was beautiful, The Huffington Post reported.
The kicker? He won. A judge agreed with Feng's argument and ordered his ex-wife to fork over $120,000.

"I married my wife out of love, but as soon as we had our first daughter, we began having marital issues," he told the Irish Times. "Our daughter was incredibly ugly, to the point where it horrified me."

On one hand I think the guy's a jerk.
How can you not love your own baby, especially after a DNA paternity test?

On the other hand China has a one-child policy.
Since boys are seen as an asset and girls as a liability more females fetuses are aborted than males.
Because of the woman's lie this guy was stuck with an unattractive daughter.

People pick mates partially based on how they look.
I don't think that's wrong or evil.
It's primal; it's nature.

All I can say is: WOW! That is so sad. I can't even image, how the baby will feel when she grows up and hears this story :(

I think he's a sad and shallow little man. Imagine how his daughter will feel if she finds out about this.

How sad that looks are placed higher in value than personality. Ya, I know, we are all like that to some degree... who doesn't admire a thing of beauty? But often, by taking the extra moment to stop and get to know someone/something, you see a beauty within that you could have easily passed by!

This is one UGLY man deep inside! And the poor daughter- it reminds me of the comment Alec Baldwin made to his daughter about being a pig. Words are powerful and the sting can last forever.

Oh I totally agree Enerchi. Inner beauty takes over everything for me once I get to know someone. If they are beautiful on the inside that's all I ever see from that point on- once I get to know them. And vice versa as well for a beautiful person on the outside if they are not so beautiful on the inside. Seriously- it takes over my perception of their outer appearance and all I see is their inner beauty (or lack thereof).

PS I'd like the number of her plastic surgeon please!!! (JK,JK!) :cheeky:

And what, if any, kind of relationship will she have with her father? I am so sorry for that baby.

Oh Missy!! I don't know what you look like, but I know you are beautiful!

Enerchi- you are the sweetest person! That is so kind of you to say and know that I feel the same about you. You are truly beautiful. I can tell from your posts. So kindhearted and generous. A true jewel! (and I'm not just saying that because of what you wrote above lol)

^^^   Missy! Thank you!

Well, I'd like to be a diamond jewel, perhaps an F, VVS2, cushion set with claw prongs and perhaps a pink halo in RG, but mounted in platinum. (rarely do you meet D, IF people...and this will give me something to aim for!) Yes, in my next life, I think that sounds desirable! Then I'd never age, go grey, sag or droop! I'd always be perky, sparkly and blinding --- not to mention coveted!! ooooh, "coveted" - ya, I'm likin' that plan!

Wanting your DNA to go forward to compete successfully in your kids, grandkids etc. is probably the most power life force of all ... more powerful than values, morals and ethics.
Scoring the most attractive partner (while not the only factor) helps ensure your DNA will succeed because your kids will are more likely to be attractive too, and therefor attract the best mate etc. etc. ect. on into eternity.

Wanting good looks and a partner with good looks may be shallow but it's just a fact of life.

I'm not defending what this guy did.
He's a jerk.
But I think the woman, after undergoing such a profound appearance transformation (though let's face it better make up helps), had an obligation to show him some BEFORE pics BEFORE the wedding since marriage is also about the destiny of your DNA since your DNA is not improved by plastic surgery.

Yes, I agree Kenny that she should have shown him her "before" self, before their wedding. I believe there should be complete honesty and openness in a relationship and she knowingly went into it with a secret, that while not 'deep dark/i'm a mass murderer' type secret, it was still something that should have been shared in advance with someone you intended to spend your life with and have children together.

Ah... what's that famous phrase Kenny?? "people vary"! lol!!! ;))

First of all, I am against secrets of any kind in a marriage so definitely agree with you on that one. But, I don't agree with your statement above re DNA and marriage. What about couples that don't choose to/or can't have children? What about gay couples? I mean, I'm with you on this specific couple and all (though he is uglier than she is- I mean denouncing his own child- a real shonda) but don't care for the statement that marriage is about the destiny of your DNA. Not always and if that is how someone chooses their mate well, then they deserve what they get (IMO). But totally with you on the secrets thing.

Enerchi-I like the way you think girlfriend! :appl:

true... sadly, so true

This is evil on so many levels, I wouldn't know where to start. :angryfire:

My opinion is that they both suck and that it seems unfair to me that they were blessed with a child. I think it's just a very sad situation for everyone involved, mainly due to the selfishness and vanity of two total morons. :angryfire:

I'd like to see a picture of the kid...

Me too- Personally,I have never seen an ugly baby just like I have never seen an ugly animal. But I know others feel differently.

LOL, is that for real? I wouldn't call him ugly- just in need of a good dentist perhaps and a good ophthalmologist for cataract surgery. :cheeky:

That poor girl! What awful parents.

My first thought when I saw the above picture was "poor dog!" then I was a little horrified. Do they make doggie dentists? Because that would truly be helpful for him hehe.

A bit off topic but I've read that a majority of Korean females have had plastic surgery and the pressure to do so is extremely high. If true, then it is depressing for one not to love what you were born with. Again, I think this has much to do with what Kenny posted. It was done to help "score" a better mate, thereby improving her station in life and pass on the better genes of her mate.

Honestly, he is this the ugly one, horribly ugly on the inside.

He says he married for love. I'm guessing he doesn't know what it means to love.

Just going to throw it out there, but what about braces? They are pretty widely accepted and have some effect on the physical appearance of someone. Where does one draw the line?

Braces are needed to correct over or under-bites, which is important to the future health of your teeth. It isn't always done just for the sake of having pretty looking teeth.

Same can be said of plastic surgery. But I was referring more to the very very common and widely accepted use of braces to simply straighten teeth for purely cosmetic purposes.

The effects of braces are very much less dramatic than most plastic surgery.

Good point.
A guy, who had braces, could look more attractive, get married and the kids turn out with badly crooked teeth.
Then the mother could feel deceived if he didn't tell her he had braces as a child.

There is also family history of physical or mental illness, the list goes on and on for "imperfect" DNA.

Where do you draw the line?
I don't know and individuals on both ends of this stick will vary, but marriage is such a major thing that I think complete honesty and disclosure is essential.

A person is a package.
Even the most attractive person may have other undesirable traits, or perhaps he lied and does not really have a degree from Stanford, or is really an heir to all that money.
