Thanks for your post. Could you please ask the vendor that you are working with to provide you with a Sarin report, a quantitative analysis of a diamond’s cut listing the crown and pavilion angles of the stone. Please understand that this information is key in giving a basic assessment of the cut of a stone.
Once you have the crown and pavilion angles, go to the Holloway Cut Advisor and plug the numbers in. A score below 2 means the diamond is in the top %5 of performers for light return, fire, scintillation and spread. It can help to narrow down your search.
At a price of $3,800 ($3,689 per carat) you may want to consider trying to get more information on this stone (i.e., crown and pavilion angles, idealscope image, etc). You may have found the one!
Thanks for your post. That’s great! The next step would be to try and get additional photos of the stone (i.e. idealscope image, H&A pattern (if it is sold as such), inclusions, face shot and laser inscription, if does have one).
Also, please talk to the vendor and find out how eyeclean the SI2 is. Please note that not all SI2s are created equal, with it being imperative that you consider the size, type, location and color of the inclusions within the stone carefully, making sure of its visible cleanliness.
Well, so far, so good. Plus, the price is in line with other stones of similar specs that are listed here on pricescope.
Congrats on the find! Hope this helps and please keep us posted.
Thanks for your post. If the vendor is confirming 100% eyecleanliness, then that's even better!
Along with any light leakage that may or may not be present in the idealscope image, you would also want to ask the vendor if the diamond, by any chance, appears milky or cloudy in various types of lighting as result of the medium blue fluorescence in the stone. From the information you've provided us, we already know that it has a beautiful cut, so it should face up gorgeously white and the medium blue fluorescence should not necessarily be an issue. However, I would double check this fine point nonetheless.
Hope this helps. Thanks again for your queries. Please keep us posted and let us know when we can be of help.
Medium florescent is actually something I sought out. From what I’ve read, and been told on this forum; it's a very good thing for an H colored stone. As I understand it, with an H color, the MB actually makes the stone like whiter than it is (which is very good, considering I'm having it set in platinum).
I have also learned that the "cloudy", "milky" color only happens in Strong blue stones...and even then, seldom.
Thanks for your post. Yes, you are absolutely correct that the MB fluorescence will offset any yellowness (if it is a warmer H, more towards an I). However, if you please reread my post above you'll see that I suggested that you simply double check on the milky or cloudy point just to be certain.
I'm happy for you that you may have found what you are looking for.
Hope this helps and please keep us posted.
Kindest regards always,
Linda
