I have been thinking of having disposable cameras placed on the tables at the reception, and amid the googling I came across this website:

http://www.itheesnap.com/

In short, the customer pays a $219 flat rate for 16 cameras (the rate is higher or lower depending on how many cameras you want).
You get the 16 cameras (27 exposure) shipped to you. They also send a box to send them back to them (shipping is included) and cards for your guests with a code. After the reception, you collect the cameras and send them back. They send you 4x6 prints of all photos and a DVD with all photos. Your guests can log on with their code-cards and view/print for themselves.

Now, a frugal bride could do all this herself, of course. Pay $4-5 a camera + shipping, have them developed, scan all pics into snapfish and send out e-mails to share an album with her guests. I''m guessing total cost for the bride is at least $100, if not more (not sure how much it would cost to develop 16 rolls of film, Ive had a digital camera for 5 years). And scanning 400+ pics into my computer does not sound fun.

Not sure if the pros out-weigh the cons:

Pros
All in one, easy deal, one price, guest-friendly. Bride pretty much does nothing but send the cameras back. You get to see the web album first and delete unflattering pictures, if you choose.

Cons
I''m thinking, what if people don''t take all the pictures? Most people will have their own digital cameras, no? Are film-cameras a thing of the past? Is the $100 difference worth it? What if a camera or two gets lost... you never know with people who''ve been drinking.

Have any of you had (or are having) disposable cameras at the reception? Was it a hassle at all?
Thoughts on this website?

That seems like a lot. You know that when you get pictures developed these days you can get them right on a CD at the store right? Walmart and Target will do it and it's pretty cheap. You'd skip the scanning step.

Also I believe but I might be wrong, that if you send pictures to kodak gallery to be developed you might be able to have them upload them automatically online...might want to check into that.

I think it's a cute idea, but if you are on a budget I'd do it myself probably. If you aren't on a tight budget it isn't THAT unreasonable.

ETA: I was at one wedding where they had the cameras. Some of them were used, but unfortunately many were used by little kids, which while it sounds cute, none of the pictures were really useable...so I think it depends on your motives.

I really like the idea. I''m not sure either about film camera costs anymore as I''ve completely converted (long time ago) to digital and just pics on my computer and printing any pic I want to frame on photo paper. I do agree that some cameras may get used by kids, but if you have the cards on the table for people to know that all the photos will be uploaded online for them to view and print, and especially if you or someone else announces during the wedding that the cameras are there for them to use and capture everything they can, maybe that will encourage them more to use the cameras instead of only their own.

The only thing that would bum me out is to collect them all and they all use ~20 of the 27 exposures, and I''d have to go use all the unused before sending them off, then delete them from the online album before sending it to family. But you could also use any unused exposures to get last pictures of decorations, the reception venue, family, etc. also. This is actually a good idea IMO - I just might look into it myself!

I was considering having the cameras, and I think it''d be a great way to get families to get more comfortable pictures of each other instead of uncomfortable ones just in front of the pro photographer. Plus I think the online album part is great - saves a lot of hassle on your part!

Hmmm...

I paid about $100 ($96 to be exact) for 20 cameras.

I haven''t touched them yet, and my wedding was in July...

I don''t plan on actually getting prints from all the cameras, because I''ve heard rumors from my friends that a lot of the pictures are going to be bad/silly/gross (immature med students have a habit of photographing anatomy...

). I just plan on taking them somewhere like Walmart where they will put all the pictures on a cd, then I''ll upload the good ones to Snapfish or a site like that and send the link to fam/friends and order any prints I want.

I really only did this as a precaution in case I was unhappy with my pro. pics, but I ended up with a friend who took 700 amazing pictures, and then pro pics I was really happy with, so I can''t imagine wanting all the actual prints from the disposables. But if you think you will want the prints, that price doesn''t really seem all that bad to me!
