This is not my center stone. My stone is slightly larger.

It's pretty. I'm one of those who prefer it more as a solitaire and not a 3 stone. I think it's got such a a mesmerizing cut that I
Dont like to much clutter around it.

Re: What do you think of this setting for my Octavia Asscher

Would the side stones also be Octavia cut or no?

Re: What do you think of this setting for my Octavia Asscher

Since you asked...

I'm not fond of it and feel the sidestones will distract from the Octavia center. I don't mind the pave but combined with sidestones that are so visually different from Octavia's steps is not going to enhance the look in my opinion.

Good luck with the decision!

Re: What do you think of this setting for my Octavia Asscher

I have never thought of Octavia as anything other than a solitaire. I think the tall crown is such a feature that it would
drown out any side stones. With the deep pavillion and mirror facets there is enough to look at on the one stone in my
mind. It is a beautiful ring though, maybe if I saw it I would think different but just imagining it that is what I think.

Not a fan, personally.

See the above KarlK is this an imitation

There is a beautiful pink stone and some clear and red egyptian asscher on the home page flashing pictures lying on its side and it reminds me of the Octavia. Can't be diamond the pink and red. The pink may be a round stone.

Gemstone cuts look good and he will created one for your own design, but is in Australia. Think I have heard his name here
before maybe?

I would do one of these two styles of setting:

This would be my choice

Maybe something like these long baguettes bezel set with or without milgrain. I think I remember someone writing
that the long baguettes are difficult to source though.

Re: What do you think of this setting for my Octavia Asscher

thanks for your opinions. Still trying to decide.....

Gypsy I do like the side baguettes and diamond one that you posted. I am just getting diamond shrinkage, and want the octavia to look bigger, thats why I started with the halo- but afraid the halo will take away from my stone... decisions, decisions...

Re: What do you think of this setting for my Octavia Asscher

To be honest I would rather see a nice small halo around an octavia rather than a 3 stone octavia. For some reason in my mind the
halo doesnt distract from the center stone as much as a 3 stone.

Neil, that is a gorgeous ring! May I ask where you found it?

FWIW, that cut has 5 rows of pavilion facets, while the Octavia has 3.
I think the Octavia's crown is much higher and the table is much smaller.

Yes, I don't really know the Octavia other than reading the excitement about it being designed by KarlK,
I am a round diamond person. I just thought it looked similar. I know the fire will not be the same then.

to an amazing mokume ring that I think could potentially look just as amazing (in style if not in metal) with an Octavia in it!

Niel- well, now it's in my ring folder, too, lol. That's my pick, the geometry/lines really work with the Octavia for me.
