Hi All,

I''m relatively new to this but found this diamond that looks pretty good to me. I have a really low budget and wanted to ask what you thought of this diamond:

Princess
0.78 ct
Cut grade: premium
Color: D
Clarity: Si2
Measurement : 5.16x5.06x3.57
Ratio : 1.02
Depth : 70.6
Table : 68
Girdle : -
Culet : None
Polish : Excellent
Symmetry : Very Good
Certification : GIA
Certificate number: 16079593
Fluorescence : S

What worries me a little bit is the strong blue fluorescence. Is this a big deal or not? Other than that, the rest of the specs look like the best deal I''ve found for the price (~1800). Thanks so much everyone for your help!

remarkably cheap, which should encourage you to find what is causing the low price. Is the fluorescence an issue? Usually not, but this may be one of those rare cases. Is it eyeclean?

well it''s from an online site, which has me worried as I won''t be able to see it before I purchase it. I guess I should probably keep looking and not risk it?

This is a little iffy as you cannot see the stone and you have not way to judge it performance. Why not try some of the WF stones, lower color range but probably a much better cut instead of shooting in the dark with this stone?

Both are quite beautiful although I prefer the ACA stone.

I do like the ACA whiteflash stone, and actually looked at that one earlier :)

Which would you choose, that one or this one:

The james allen is definitely bigger, which is very appealing.

Greenbean,

JA doesn''t do ASET, and in this case doesn''t provide IS either.

Ok, out of the following, which do you all think would be the best choice? Any advice you guys could give would be greatly appreciated...it has to be a princess-cut...The setting I want will have side-stones (probably G/H color).

Sorry for all the questions, i''m just new at this and this is one of the biggest decisions i''ll ever make!

Thanks!

Princess cuts are hardy to judge than rounds. I suggest you stick to an AGS000 stone at minimum, but the ACA Princesses from WF are stunning, handpicked stones that are all AGS000 so you are guaranteed to get a gorgeous stone and the guess work is done. If you can fit that one into your budget, then I would go for it.

Make sure any stone you buy is eyeclean to your standards though.

And, come back with piccies

Any other experts out there that would be able to offer there opinion?

The three Princess from WF look good, my preferences are as they are listed, first, second and third. Check that they are eyeclean to your standards and also WF can talk you through each diamond to help you select the best one for your purposes.

Forum rules rightly prevent the vendors here from commenting on one another''s diamonds.

Ditto! The JA stone looks like it''s probably not eye-clean, and I don''t think the I.D. stone has pictures or an ASET available.

Of the WF stones, I like them in the order that Lorelei mentioned. I''d focus on the first 2 princesses because the 3rd has too much green in the ASET, IMO. Of the first 2, I''d choose a G over a J, since a J princess might be a little on the warm side. Princesses tend to show a bit more color than round.

I would also add this one to the mix...but I''d probably ask GOG about the "chip" on the AGS report before buying.

Thanks everyone!

How about adding these to the mix...there are so many I just can''t decide! Any help you guys can give in narrowing things down would be greatly appreciated. Is cut the absolute most important factor? I can''t decide between that versus maybe going a little bitter without getting that AGS0 ideal cut...

Oh, I like that I/SI1! It''s nice that the dimensions are a perfect square. However, it''s not that much bigger in dimensions than the G/SI2, and with the ASETs and prices both being similar (and both diamonds being eye-clean enough to meet ACA standards), I''d probably go with the G simply because of the color. I have an I princess and the color really doesn''t bother me, but I don''t think I''m very color sensitive. I think if you were going to set the diamond on point/kite set/etc (you know, corners at 12/3/6/9 instead of the usual square look), then I''d go with the I because it''s a perfect square. Otherwise, I think I''d choose the G.

The others are hard to comment on without pictures or ASETs. If it were me, I''d stick with AGS0, because you know you''re getting the top of the line in terms of cut. And yes, we''re pretty big cut nuts around here, because cut is what really makes a diamond sparkle!
