interesting - I would have expected the ideal scope to show the opposite - that the greater light return was at the ends... I think it''s a pretty stone but I don''t know enough about stats on ovals to comment on that.

Not looking at the stats at all, but only the pictures, I think it looks like a very pretty stone! Definitely worth a look in my book. Are you okay with K color? Are you color sensitive at all?

Oh, I like the looks of the stone in those extra photos! I have no idea about what to expect out of an oval imagescope, so no comment there.

If you don''t mind, I''m linking your old thread so people can get a better understanding of your priorities when it comes to finding a stone: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/what-would-you-do-with-my-budget.48346/

Thanks for the replies. I don''t know what to expect from an oval Idealscope either! I thought it compared favorably to the ones of (more expensive) ovals posted on the GoodOldGold website, but I''m not really sure I''m looking at it correctly.

I don''t know if I''d consider myself color sensitive, but I like a little bit of warmth in a stone. I just think it makes it look richer or older. Like "oh this? it''s been in my family for years"

Bump for more numbers. Anyone else have any opinions? Please?

You''re right...it does seem to compare favorably to the ones on GOG...good thought to go look there!

I''m with you on the bit of warmth thing! I actually don''t like the look of D-E-F stones against my skintone, though...so that may be part of why also. I was looking at a lot of I-J-K color OECs a little while ago, and I was very pleased with the lower colors...much more that I thought I would be.

Any plans to go further with this stone? I think Superbcert has a ten day money back policy on their loose stones so you could see it in person. I''m so looking forward to more pics if you do!!!

You may have already done this, but I ran the numbers through Dave Atlas's Cut Grading Form for ovals (www.gemappraisers.com/oldcutgrade.asphttp://www.gemappraisers.com/GradeForm.asp), and here were the results:

Shape: Oval
Table % 60.2% Grade: 1B
Crown Height % 13.6% Grade: 1A
Girdle Thickness Thin to Medium Grade: 1A
Total Depth % 62.00% Grade: 1A
Polish Excellent / Very Good Grade: 1A * Not a primary determining factor.
Symmetry Excellent / Very Good Grade: 1A * Not a primary determining factor.

Final Grade: 1A

Same grade as my oval!

Sounds like it might be worth checking out... are you okay with the L/W ratio? That was a big factor for me in choosing an oval... I liked the short fat ones, so I stayed under a 1.35 ratio in my search. Can't wait to see pix if you decide to purchase the stone!!!

Thanks for writing that out, Ephemery. Your ring is really pretty, I haven''t seen too many ovals around here!

I''m not sure what will happen with the stone - it''s up to my boyfriend now

Thanks, Basil! I was originally looking at cushions... but liked the rounder shape, and like you, the better spread(!) of ovals. And it''s kind of fun to have a shape that not many other people have! Good luck with the stone... I''m sure your boyfriend will make a good decision.

Basil,

I was looking at that stone as well and really liked the numbers and the pictures but went with a fatter J VS1 instead:
Shape: Oval
Table % 60.0% Grade: 1A
Crown Height % 15.0% Grade: 1A
Girdle Thickness Medium to Thick Grade: 1A
Total Depth % 60.80% Grade: 1A
Polish Excellent / Very Good Grade: 1A * Not a primary determining factor.
Symmetry Excellent / Very Good Grade: 1A * Not a primary determining factor.

Final Grade: 1A

Hopefully the file attachment worked.

This J has Med blue flour. It looks clear and white in daylight but in some indoor lighting, you can see a hint of color. I would consider myself to be very color sensitive but enjoy the warmer colors.

Ephemery, I also liked the short, fat ovals and this one is a 1.349:1. In the picture, you don''t really see the bowtie, it is there from some angles.

I just got the stone last week and love it. I can''t wait to get it set and then plan the proposal. I would take a look at that stone.

Here is another shot of the stone, you can see the bowtie here.
