I'm trying to decide if I want it, and what to pay for this ring.

It's opal, and under .10 of diamond.

What do you think of the opal? It doesn't appear too fiery to me, but I like it. What do you think I should pay for it?

Is this ring better?

I prefer the styling of the first gold ring, but like the fire in the second white gold ring's opal.

Here's a side pic of the first ring.

I like the 1st ring. Very pretty. The opal isn't extremely colorful but might look different under different lighting. I can't begin to say what it's worth -- would depend on the quality of the diamonds, weight of the opal, etc. It's worth, actually, what someone is willing to pay for it. Which includes you! =)

Have you looked here?

http://www.opalauctions.com/

It was suggested on this forum recently and I've had great fun looking at their stones and pieces.

I like them both too. Since I was raised to always wear matching metals (except wedding set), I'd need both YG & WG.

I think opals are pretty but I don't mix them w/ diamonds because experts have told me they're much more fragile to clean than diamonds & gold. So my sensitive stones (like pearls or opals) are stand-alone pieces for that reason. But that's just me, I really like both of the rings you've posted.
