What Do You Think of This OMC?

I found this OMC and think it's very pretty and interesting. I'm new to this diamond evaluating world so I was hoping some of you could weigh in with your expert opinions. I think I'd like to have it set in JbEG's Julia - and really want an antique diamond. When you're considering an antique diamond, I assume it isn't going to be anywhere in the ballpark of an ideal cut and you'll have lower color, but I still want one that's going to look pretty. :D

Thanks for your time.

Is there a video? I always like to see it in action. :wink2:

There doesn't appear to be. I can ask Erica for one since most of their stones have them.

Why does the EGL report refer to it as an Old European Cut?

Sometimes the cert will say a different cut. My OEC says transitional, which it isn't. There are books that can tell you exactly what it is, but I tend to go with JbEGs opinions on the cut. They both have a great eye. I would definitely ask for a video if you can't see it in person.
Also, you may want to ask the admins to take your thread off the antique forum. Having two threads open is going to get confusing for you :). I'd leave it on this one. It gets more traffic and you might get some answers from the experts (that I am not).

Sorry in advance for typos...on my phone ;)

I too would go with Jbeg. I think for my antique cushion the lab called it an OMC or OEC, another appraiser just labeled it cushion. :snore:

I would go with JBEG's call on it style-wise.

So I'm going to assume Erica is absolutely correct and this is an OMC. If we assume that, what do you think of the stone?

I don't love what I see going in in the shots on the red cloth. There's some funky black (might just be shadows) going on. I too would love to see a video of it in action.

By the measurements, I couldn't call it an oec because it isn't round -- more oval-esque. ;)

Maybe I need to find an OEC, but this stone is more in line with that pesky ol' budget... And there's just something about it that draws me to it.

Sometimes that's just how it goes! They adopt you before you adopt them, ESPECIALLY antique stones.
