After reading several postings about GIA vs AGS cuts I want your opinion on this diamond. Does it look like a good value or should I keep looking?
http://www.mondera.com/Diamond/diamondproduct.aspx?partno=574964

Thanks for your help.

Personally I''d keep looking. It only scores a fair for fire and scintillation and personally I''d prefer higher. If this one is eyeclean, maybe something like this

or this one

Definitely. You can do much better!

And bee gave you two stunning ones to start out with. (make sure SI1 is eyeclean)

Thritto on passing on that diamond! You can do much better as Bee demonstrates. And welcome by the way!

how do you determine the fire and scintillation?

If you go up to the top of the page and under tools, go into the cut advisor. If you have a RB diamond, enter the debt and table%, crown and pavilion angle and it will advise you. It''s quite handy for weeding out diamonds, especially if you can''t call in and view them with your own eyes.

I thank you so much for the information. I''m meeting with a diamond buyer on Tuesday and hope he has a similar diamond for me. If not I will probally purchase one of the diamonds you suggested.
I have been checking out diamonds on the cut advisor and wondered why some of the signature stones are too thin. Am I entering the wrong information?

One more question, when I requested the AGSL report for both diamonds the cuts are not the same. And when I put it in the grading scale it seems to be not as good. Am I doing something wrong or is this something I will need to check with every diamond?

Do you mean the HCA says the girdle is too thin? Also with various machine / measuring devices, some variance on the results is normal for the same diamond.

Hi!

I just want to mention something, you will not be comparing apples with apples here. The stones listed at GOG are actually branded diamonds, though not listed as such. (see the Isee2 symbol under comments on the grading report) They are cut extremely tight/well. I will bet money that the stones your diamond buyer has won''t compare.

Just something to keep in mind, you really do get what you pay for. And cut is everything in a diamond.

As for numbers varying slightly from each report, that''s not unusal, so don''t be concernerd. Again, these are really well cut.
