Hi ckfern

Does this diamond have a grading report other than GIA or AGS such as HRD? The proportions aren't looking good however and it would appear this diamond looks small for the weight, when you say est. for the proportions where did you get these figures?

By ''est.'' are you saying estimated?

Because in this day and age, it is ridiculous for these things to be estimated because machines which provide detailed proportions analysis are commonplace in our industry. And I wouldn''t dream of buying a diamond weighing 2.68 carats, or beyond a quarter carat for that matter, without a lab report and I''m guessing that this diamond is not accompanied by a lab report if the proportions of the diamond are estimated.

No estimation for the total depth of the diamond? I ''really'' wanted to run this puppy through the Cut Advisor available via the Tools link at the top of this page...

Ok, the measurement totally does not make sense now.

Depth is 4.6mm, Min width is 8.7mm, you get a 53.9% for depth. So with a pavilion depth of 46% and a thick girdle min 5%, you have a crown height of less than 3%???

sorry its a 2 carat, i got the carat weight confused with another diamond i was looking at. does this change anyones opinion?

You still haven''t answer our questions.

Does this diamond have a grading report other than GIA or AGS such as HRD? This is a local appraisal.

The proportions aren''t looking good however and it would appear this diamond looks small for the weight, when you say est. for the proportions where did you get these figures? i got it from the certificate itself.. the weight is incorrect it is actually 2 carat.

Hope this answers all the questions.

So that is a round cut?

Without a grading report by a major lab?

The proportions are by the local appraiser?

Here are the measurements for a properly cut two carat ideal cut diamond: 8.26 - 8.28 x 5.09 mm notice how the last measurement listed ''5.09'' is significantly deeper than the ''4.60'' mm that you''ve indicated as the depth measurement for a diamond measuring significantly more in outside diameter at 8.70 - 8.80 mm? That tells those of us with experience that the measurements for this diamond are ''all out of whack'' or that you''re relaying the information incorrectly. Can you post a copy of the appraisal? Once again however, I don''t recommend purchasing a diamond of this carat weight without a lab report or verification by an independent Gemologist (capable of providing actual measurements, not just an estimate).

its a local jeweler. it is a round cut.

I''m trying to attach the certificate but it doesnt allow me to. I typed what is on the certificate.

a well cut 2ct should be close to 8.10 mm in diameter.
