I am considering this cushion cut diamond. Here are the specs:

TOTAL PRICE $13,994

Color: I
Clarity: VS2
Weight: 2.05 ct
Dimensions: 8.79mm x5.94mm x4.41mm
Table: 56 %
Depth: 63.5 %
Culet: L
Fluorescence: N
Polish: VG

To me there is a bowtie in the center. But then I spoke to Leon and he said a bowtie would be dark. He is sending me more photos of the diamond, but I don''t have them yet. What do you guys honestly think of the diamond and the price?

I should add that I am looking for an elongated cushion with chunkier faceting in the 2 ct. range.

I think it looks like exactly what you are looking for...a chunky, elongated cushion...looks like a lovely stone. As far as the bowtie issue, I have to agree with Leon, I dont see anything...The bowties I have seen have been dark, where you can clearly see a bowtie shape in the center of the diamond....

What an awesome antique styled cushion complete with a large culet. The symmetry looks fabulous too. As for the bowtie effect: antique styled cushions will have the maltese cross effect. In elongated shapes, this starts to look sort of like a bowtie. This same "bowtie" under the right conditions will light up and flash major fire, however, it is not a true bowtie as in those that you see in some pear, oval and marquise shapes.

Looks stunning. My oh my-- where is Leon getting all these well priced lovely stones from! How are you setting it?

Chrono: I really don''t know that much about diamonds, so excuse my ignorance, but is a large cutlet a good thing? Also, I know I have seen elongated cushions that don''t have that white bowtie effect in the center. Maybe these weren''t antique style cuts. If it is an antique style cut, will they all pretty have this white bowtie effect? Here is an elongated cushion that Leon sourced for someone that does not have a white bowtie. Is this not an antique cut with chunkier facets? I really like the the symmetry of the cushion in the photo, but maybe I wouldn''t like the cut as much in person.

Gypsy: I don''t know which setting I''ll go with. Leon said I need a diamond first and then we can decide which setting works best with the stone. I did talk to him a little about wanting something that would be able to be sized. I wear a size 3 ring and plan on passing the ring onto my daughter eventually. It''s impossible to predict what size her finger will be when she grows up, but I can''t expect it to be the exact size that mine is. Attached is the setting that I initally fell in love with. When my husband and I first started browsing at new ring settings, we saw one that had a ruby halo. We both thought it looked made the center diamond pop and not blend in with the surrounding diamonds, like a lot of settings tend to do. I don''t know if I''ll end up incorporating rubies in or not, but I may.

Now that I look at the attached ring again, it looks like the center stone has a white bowtie in it too!

A large culet is mostly preference. It''s common on antique style cushions and I happen to like them.

I really don''t know a lot about cushions, but I like the look of this one. It has lovely larger facets and an antique appearance. The bowtie looks more like the style of the cut rather than a product of a poor cut...but others would know more about this.
