I am brand new to this forum and would love to know what everyone thinks of this stone. I was planning on setting it in a split shank Simon G setting.

GIA Cert
weight 1.52
Cut Sq. Emerald
Color I
Clarity SI 1
Depth 64.6
Table 61
Symmetry good
Polish Very Good
Girdle Tn-Very thick
Flourescense none
Measurement 6.7 x 6.5 x 4.2
Retail price $9300

I have seen this stone and it has a lot of sparkle compared to the others I have seen. But since I am a novice I wanted your opinions.
Many thanks in advance!!!!

You''re going to need a photo of it if you want opinions because numbers don''t tell too much about asschers. The table is a little large and it''s shallow. Where is it from? GOG is a great place to look for asschers.

Hey, Asscher, have you seen it in person yet??

When I was looking at asschers I gravitated towards those with depths of 65% or more, but I''ve seen some pictures of beautiful asschers that are a little more shallow and they look great, so I really think it depends on the stone. The upside of a shallower stone is more spread :)

Also, you definitely want to make sure it''s eye-clean--with step cuts the inclusions have nowhere to hide so you just want to make sure this passes your personal version of eye clean. I looked at a few SI1''s and could see the inclusions, but I''m admittedly critical with inclusions. My stone is a VS2 with a small crystal near the center. If my ring is really, really clean I can just barely see it with my naked eye (after using a loupe).

With the symmetry being "good'' you''d just want to make sure the pattern lines up perfectly...sometimes if the symmetry isn''t perfect, the pattern can look off.

And most importantly, do you have pics??? Naturally it''s the best way to find out how good a stone looks, but I also just love looking at any and all pictures of asschers that I can :)

I dont have any pics but I have seen the stone and it was eye clean, to me at least. The other stones I saw looked dead when this one popped out at me. I love the looks of it, im just wondering if I am missing something here. Is the price right, if the stone looks good on the hand?

The Table and Depth don't bother me at all, as long as the crown height is high enough (Ask for the crown height).

Kaleigh's asscher, for example, is pretty shallow and it's stunning, so the depth could just be a boon giving you a lot of spread.

But I would ber very concerned about the "Good" Symmetry. I've yet to see an asscher with "good" symmetry that isn't bad. Also I would ask why the girdle is that uneven. I prefer a more even girdle... but it could just be one spot that is 'thin' and the rest is pretty even.

SI's step cuts aren't normally eye-clean, but if you didn't see anything-- FABULOUS.

That's about all I can say without a couple of pics. Just call and ask them for pics.

I will take some pics of it as soon as it comes back from Simon G. The stone looks great in person, I just didnt know if I was paying too much for the gradings on this stone. Any opinions are welcome!

Thanks!

I just ran a search on the PS engine, and it looks like you''re paying quite a bit for those specs.

I found several 1.52 I VS2s and one 1.56 H SI1, anywhere from $7,275 to $8,068. I would keep looking if you''re concerned about price, IMO.

Also, I don''t love the Thin to Very Thick girdle, and like others have said, the fact that it only ranks a ''Good'' in symmetry. With Asschers, it''s all about the patterns.
