Hello all,

After lurking on this fabulous site for a month or so, I''ve jumped in to solicit your help. My bf and I have started ring shopping, and are trying to become as educated as possible on the subject of diamonds. We''ve visited a few B&M locations, and have found that online shopping seems to be the way to go. I''ve found an Asscher that I think would make me very happy. Again, I''m a newbie and not nearly as educated as many of you, so any advice you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I''ve also requested the GIA report via e-mail, so I can update later once I''ve received that.

Thanks in advance for your honest feedback!

Hi Katrina! Glad to hear about your upcoming engagement.

My guess is that, for this price, this stone is uncertified. You could be getting a great deal if this is the case. If you can get an Idealscope, Storm or one of the other experts will help you assess whether the stone is a good one.

It is possible to luck into a great uncertified stone, but you will want to make sure you are absolutely confident with your purchase if that is the case. You should also make sure that JA''s upgrade policy will cover this purchase, too, if you think that upgrading might be a possibility.

Need an IS image to see what id does at a different obstruction levels in the pic it looks on the dark side.
Also need crown height,
The windmills are tiny which a lot of people wouldn't like.
So far I think there are better ones out there.

That is the best one at that price level JA has.
If you like small windmills get the IS and crown height and decide from there.

Thanks Karl.

We could probably go with something a bit more in price. This was just giving him some wiggle room. I find Asscher cuts are hard to judge. I would rather have a quality stone than a large stone. I know you have to be particular with an Asscher because it will not ''sparkle'' like a princess will. He likes the princess, but there''s just something about an Asscher that I enjoy.

I''m definitely open to recommendations for other stones (whether from JA, WF, or BN).

Thanks!

I do like the #3692. It seems a bit pricey for my untrained eye. I found this one on GOG. It seems to have very similar stats, but is priced almost $2000 less. Why the big gap? What I am I missing?

color and depth and slightly cut, Jon can do a video comparing them if your interested.
The depth over 70 and one color grade are the big ones.
