and more importantly, the massive inclusion on the edge. it would be set in a halo setting - would this plus the prong hide it well enough? also, i know the table is large - but enough so to make it an ugly stone? they are asking around $4400 for it.

Mimzy,
I'll pass on the stone.

1. A huge table at 76% coupled with the low crown height of 9% means this stone will look dull and lifeless, like a piece of glass.

2. The prong will not be able to cover the inclusion either. Prongs are located at the shoulders or corner breaks. The inclusion is right before the corner break so it will be obvious.

3. Also, note that the cert is an EGL Europe. Double check with an independent appraiser that the stone is accurately graded as a D and SI2. EGL Europe tends to be not as accurate on a consistent basis.

I would also be very dubious regarding an SI2 in a step cut such as an emerald, it is very likely to show inclusions.

Sounds way too cheap to me.

With an EC I'd be much more picky on clarity than with an RB

I'd go for a smaller, better rock if that is your budget.

ETA: A girl I know here has a pear that faces up like a 1.5ct stone, but I'm pretty sure it's more like a carat as it's really thin. I have never seen that stone sparkle and I've looked in lots of different lights. It looks like a big piece of glass.
