What do you think of these cushion stats?

Here is the photo, the only one I have so far. I have asked the vendor to send me an ASET/Idealscope and some more photos of cushion A. In the meantime, if you have any opinions (particularly on the stone on the right) I''d be most grateful to hear them.

Also, if you had any guidance as to which is better, cushion A or the stone which I originally started this post with, I would also be grateful to hear....

Hi guys
Well I am going to go with cushion A from Mark T at ERD, very excited about it. Thanks all for your opinions and guidance, its a cliche at this point, but Pricescope has provided fantastic guidance. I''ll keep you posted and will hopefully be making an appearance on SMTR in the near future!

Just to mention, I held back from mentioning the name of the vendor of the original cushion I started this post with (2.04 J colour VS2) for fear that the stone would be snapped up, but I would like to mention that it was Michael Jay on Fifth Avenue in NY. Although I didn''t go with his stone in the end, he sourced this very lovely stone for me and he has been an absolute pleasure to deal with, incredibly courteous and efficient - really really fantastic customer service.

I know from personal experience how difficult it is to source a cushion, so hopefully this information is of some assistance to a fellow cushion hunter and I attach a pic of the stone.

Congratulations on your choice you have learned to like the "Cutlet". What kind of setting have you decided on?

Hi CCL, well I think I can handle a medium culet on a cushion brilliant. Mark is really positive about this stone and I really trust his eye. In terms of setting, I am going to get Mark to set it. I was going to go for a plain platinum solitaire like this one melusine posted on her 3 carat cushion, I think its beautiful...hang on a sec, I''ll post it in separate post......

....here it is, Melusine''s beauty!

Congrats. :)

....and I would team my "Melusine" style ring with a diamond set w/ring, maybe shared prong or channel set.

Or the other option is something like the "Nicole", again from Mark''s website. I think that I would choose single prong claws however (not that I don''t like double prongs, I am the biggest fan of boston_jeff).

I have thought about a trapezoid either side of my cushion, but at size 5, I''m not sure if my fingers will be able to take it. Also, I''m not sure if the traps look very angular beside the oldy worldy cushion.... any thoughts???

and before you ask, I have thought about pave, I think its stunningly beautiful for other people, but because I live far, far away from NY (which isn''t good if a stone were to drop out) and because I want to wear this ring 100% of the time and be comfortable and safe, I don''t think that its an option for me.

I''d be delighted and so happy to hear of any ideas or suggestions. I feel like this is the fun part as the stone search was quite stressful......

I like the combo of the baguettes and the cushion in this one.

That design reminds me of an estate piece I saw somewhere (with two baquettes) on each side circa 1920. An OMC like yours is certainly well suited for that kind of setting.

With regards to pave I live in Canada and I will be getting prong set pave in both ring design and wedding band for the fiance and she is klutzy and works in an office and won't take it off. You don't need to send it back to New York to get a stone replaced any decent jeweler local can do that for $20 - $30 but you will have to find one. In Canada they have a rediculous rule where if you send a ring to be modified outside the country then they try to charge you the full value of the ring when it comes back. That is utterly rediculous but also means the ring isn't going back to NY for repairs.

That''s good to know CCL, thanks for your input. I may consider pave also...
Your girlfriend sounds a lot like me!
