What do you think of these 2ct diamond studs?

Hi all,

I saw these online and thought they were affordable for 2 carats total weight. (I''ve been looking for a larger sized pair for a little while, thanks for the prior pricescope vendors suggestions)

In all fairness, I haven't gone to look at this set online, but from experience I can tell you that you generally get what you pay for. Some people do not mind a difference in clarity or cut for earrings, but dull lifeless studs won't do anything for your face. A well cut pair will sparkle more and appear larger. A poorly cut set will be deeper and appear smaller.

I'd want to make sure there was a decent return for your full dollar amount policy-so you can wear and inspect them in person for a few days. Also, a good long term upgrade policy, should you ever want to change the color, size, or clarity.

Go ahead and ask for some of those round plastic disks with the hole in the center, to wear on the backs between the ear and post, to eliminate drooping. Usually jewelers can give your these, if you inquire.

I have heard very good things about the vendors on this site. It might be worth your while to have a conversation with one of them, before your final decision.

I''ve made this mistake in the past, and it is a costly one because you do get what you pay for. I eventually decided I couldn''t live with poor quality diamonds even in studs. I wanted excellent cut stones even in earrings. I''d recommend looking at WhiteFlash and Good Old Gold. Their ready set pairs are not upgradable, but if you choose individual stones, they can usually be traded in later at the full value of what you paid toward new stones.

I agree with Diamondseeker, cut is so important also for earrings, you may not want a super louper cut even, but it is well worth concentrating on getting the best cut you can.

Actually, I believe that Jon (at GOG) will do upgrades on his RSG studs, even though they are technically *uncerted* stones, he runs all of his bell and whistle tests on them, so the buyer can be confident that she knows exactly what she is getting.

Also, ditto to the excellent advise you got (above) on cut.

My studs are both AGS-0 (~.75 each) RBs and they are little firecrackers. And I swear, they really do help to light up my face. (And the older I get, the more I appreciate this!!!

)
