table 60
depth 60.2
price $37k

thanks!

More info would be helpful, but offhand just looking at other stones of similar stats, I think it''s about $9K too high.

that''s the only info i have so far. sorry. thanks so much for your opinion. that''s exactly what i thought for a stone of that quality, but i wanted to get someone''s opinion who knows a little more than me! thanks

At the top of the page you can "pricescope" your diamond. Put in the carat weight, color and clarity and you can get a feel for comparable prices. If you like that stone you could ask your jeweler to price match, or consider asking Whiteflash, GOG, or another vendor to call in some stones.

aruba, one more thing. I don't know how much looking you've done, or reading up, but I just wanted to add a bit about this diamond in particular. It's what is called a 60/60. Meaning depth and table measurements are at 60. This cut gives off a bit of a diifferent look than an ideal cut diamomond, which will have a nice mix of white light return and fire. 60/60's tend to give off a bit more white light, and a bit less fire,. They can also have a more glassy appearance.

Now, some people love this look, and there isn't anything wrong with that, it's all personal preferance. But the majority will usually opt for a more balanced stone. Just wanted to give you a heads up, if you weren't aware. If you are, and/or like this cut, please disregard!

Dont forget that the price is also different for certified stones and then they are different depending on who certified them. I didn''t realize that when I first started looking and comparing prices.

thank you all for your help! i did not know about the 60/60 stone (except that it was not ideal) or that it let off less fire. i know a little about diamonds, but not enough to feel comfortable buying a stone. i''m upgrading my current 2 carat stone because it chipped. when we bought the original stone, we basically just listened to what the sales person told us, but I''m trying to be MUCH wiser the 2nd time around, especially since i just came back from listening to a salesman tell me how wonderful this stone was when i questioned the price.

In that case, I''d be talkiing to either Good Old Gold or WhiteFlash and asking them to help you find an ideal cut J SI stone. They can screen them for you and then take pictures, etc. for you to see. It may take some time to find a stone that large, so it is best to just call one of them.

do you happen to know if they take trades since i need to trade in my original stone?

Probably not with a chip.

the stone is getting re-cut from a 2.25 to about a 2 so it won''t be chipped anymore, but I want a bigger stone so i thought now would be a great time to upgrade!

Hi aruba, you would have to email GOG. However my gut says they only will take back their own stones and maybe other true H&A ideals. Best thing would be to get All the info you can (scan of cert, place of purchase etc etc) and call or email them to ask.

I believe that Pearlman''s will take trades...they are another great PS vendor.

Hmmm, I don''t know that they do trades, but they might be able to tell you who could recut the old stone into ideal cut. I think that would help with the resale or trade-in value.

Ditto, if you are re-cutting it anyways, have it cut to ideal specs! You may be happy with it then!

great advice. thanks. i guess I should see what it comes out like before I completely decide to trade up! my husband loves you for that comment!!
