I was thinking of putting about a 1.25-1.5c princess cut in this setting. I really like it. I''m not sure how she will feel about it though. She''s shown interest in tiffany-style, inter-twined, standard cathedral, and even halo. Since the center is fairly large, I''ve eliminated halo as an option, but the rest are all possibilities. Now I have this beautiful split-cathedral. Her ring size is 9 so I''m wondering what you all think.

Well, I''ll be honest. I like the idea of the setting, but to me, it seems a little "bulky" (although that could just be the mag pic), and I''m not really loving those prong tips...But that''s kinda personal, she might like them.

Sorry, I wasn''t really much help!

Yeah, not much help here either, but I agree with Ellen. It''s bulky and I don''t like the prong tips.

I think you can get away with a bit more bulk on a bigger finger.

See CaliCushion's thread for a non-princess example. There is a lot going on, what with sidestones and halos, and her centerstone is still not small, but it looks fabulous and proportionate on her hand.

I like the ring you posted but prefer V-prongs on princesses to emphasize the squareness. I am also interested in what ring size and center stone size are pictured, as changing those will change the overall look. The setting might look quite bulky on a 1 ct stone if that picture shows a 3 ct center princess.

While your girl sounds all over the place in what she likes, it might still be important to get her opinion on this precise option unless she has told you to leave her out of it.

One of my most unexpected favorites is this substantial MWM princess setting: Appreciative-of-expertise's ring. I do like the ring you posted and I am not 100% sold yet. Perhaps some hand shots would help, as well as the sizing information.

See, it is so personal. I much prefer the first one to the Beverly K, at least from the pictures. The Beverly has engraving and fussiness that I don''t care for.

i''m not overly fond of it myself as i find the prongs a bit too distracting. it seems to me to be the kind of setting a girl has to point out or affirm she loves, it might qualify as a risk for a surprise. if you really love it and think she might too, i would recommend an inexpensive and simple setting for the proposal, then show this to her and see if she goes for it.

i would stick with one of the styles she has mentioned she likes. of note, a halo around a 1.25 - 1.5ct might be perfect on a size 9 finger - i wouldn''t rule it out!

i agree with this completely!!

what about something like this?

great find mrssalvo!

SuicideKing i personally like that one much better. i think it is safer, offers great finger coverage, and it is a style (halo) she specifically told you she likes. i have a similar setting by eli jewels and i had the option to have the engraving or have smooth sides, so it is entirely possible beverly k could also give you this setting without the engraving.

"I really like it. I''m not sure how she will feel about it though." - if you aren''t sure how she will feel about it, that is probably your instinct kicking in that it''s not her taste as much as it is yours. keep in mind, at the end of the day she is the one who will be wearing it so while it is nice for you to like it, she''s gotta love it!

If she's shown interest in a Tiffany-style... well... that is realllllly far from that. I'm with the others that it looks a bit bulky... since the Tiffany-style is delicate, I would really want to see how she responds to similar rings before deciding on something like that. Why not get her what she has shown interest in or find out what else she might be interested in rather than what you are interested in?

lol, I thought this was kinda funny. I stumbled up on an old thread just now with the Tina Marie...

Hey, how come Mr. Salvo called it a beautiful stone and setting in that thread, but doesn''t like it here. :) hehe, it''s the same picture. Peer pressure much!!

lol, jk guys. Thanks for the help.

I''m now looking at more halo-princess style (perhaps similar to the Legacy only with a princess). I like the one mr. salvo posted, but what about without the split cathedral. Any ideas or do I have to go custom?

And once a ring is a done deal compliments are all that is given. So that could explain her comment.

ellen is correct. I would never critize or put down a completed ring someone is *sharing* and *showing off*. totally different in a "what do you think" thread
