Any other comments... you bet! The first two pictures of the ring are taken form the very positions where the "tint" of the J-K's should be the most obvious (not that there is anything of the sort showing). Did you have a chance to pick the color grades you felt comfortable about from some side by side comparisons with others? How did it work? I am very often amazed of posts describing the difference between the color of diamonds of close grades or even the same. This exercise is really beyond me unless I have some approximation of decent grading conditions - forget about placing two rings side by side in the office... I am just wandering whether my lack of grader's talent is to blame, or this is close to what others experience. Thanks! And congratulations for the great ring
OH you were the guy who was looking at that 1.82 K!I think it looks wonderful and would never have guess it was K. I think your misses will love it. How does it sparkle?
Wow, I can't believe that it's a K colour diamond. Diamonds and ring setting look wonderful. I bet the lucky lady who is going to receive it will just be speechless.
Thank you for all the nice comments everyone! The ring does sparkle like crazy and due to faint flourescance, it actually faces up like an I/J.
I am really impressed by the way this turned out. When I was buying the center stone, I looked at other, all GIA cert like mine is, side by side. I could barely notice a difference to an I/J color stone. It wasnt worth the extra money for me. So i kept with this.
From the side you can see a tint, and under certain lights, but mostly, it looks beautiful!
Hi, I haven't seen a GIA graded "K" colour grade in person, but I've seen a GIA graded "H" and "J" colour graded 8*s. I really had a hard time telling the difference between the two even though they were two grades apart. I only saw the colour difference between the "D" colour when placed side by side to both the "H" and "J" colours. Granted I was looking at 8* diamonds that are well cut for "fire" so a lot of that "fire" actually masked any yellow tints. It is just so hard to tell since most people I know don't wear a "D" colour diamond ring with another "H-J" colour diamond ring on the same hand. I really couldn't walk up to a person, look at their ring, and determine what the exact colour was. For example, whenever I go to Costco or Sam's Club I look at their jewelry display case. Their IGI colour graded "I"s don't look that bad nor do they look yellow to me. Maybe it is all that special lighting.
Although, I will notice a price increase for the same quality stone in a higher colour.
Sorry, my eyes are that of a simple layman consumer. It's not too sharp with the colour distinctions unless the stones are next to one another or in the more visible yellow scale. I can say though that your diamond ring is absolutely beautiful. I would not have known that it was "K" colour unless you told me which you did in your thread. Congratulations!
I'd suggest having the appraiser do the appraisel before he/she looks at the GIA cert. That way it is truly objective. You may find slight differences in the color and clarity grading as they are subjective. They might want to list the GIA cert number on the appraisal, so make it available after they have evaluated the stone.
wow, that does look white...I would almost think you did some photoshop on it..hehehe.
Nice!! She will love it Im sure....
Since you got lighter graded stones on the sides, I was wondering if your center stone actually looked and did stand out more than the side stones, as letting the center stand out more?
