Well my D colored diamond is at Eightstar waiting to be recut. It will probably end up between 1.10-1.18ct when finished and will be put into my x-prong platinum setting.

I want a substantial diamond band to go with it but I really can''t afford D diamonds for what I want. I found 5 ACA stones in the .21-.22 range and was thinking of a 5 stone. Problem is my price range can afford H-I colored stones.

I am not color sensitive....do you think there will be a huge noticable difference or should I go for it?

This is the type of band I would like. Shown are 5 diamonds .55ctw and I think the center stone is around 3/4ct. My stone will be 1.10ct~ and the band would have 5 21-22 pointers. What do you think?

It should work very nicely - I would not worry that ACAs are misgraded so asking for H-I is not going to produce some yellowish mix (as sometimes happens with these melee-s).

Also, there are smaller ACAs - although not listed on the site. You may want to ask Whiteflash about making the band, stones and all. It may result in a better deal than you think. I would ask about different color grades for little stones between 0.15 and 0.2 cts. In this range, the piece sare not sold one by one (I think 0.2 is the smallest size listed).

Unless you already know these prices for ACA melee, it could turn out a nice surprise.

I think a five band ring made with 0.2 carat melees MIGHT look a little bit large compared to the center stone. You might want to go to a local B&M just to size up different bands and melee sizes. I had WF custom make a 7 stone band with 0.09 carat ACA H&A Melees and this looked-well balanced next to the center stone on my fiance's ring (1.4 carat). I doubt you would be able to tell the color difference between melees that are H/I and the D center stone. Body color in small stones is hard to pick up and when you put this in the context of very well cut stones, as is the case with the ACA's, it becomes near impossible to detect a difference. ACA are truly amazing stones. Check out Mara's pics of her new ring in "Show me the ring". Her wedding band with the ACA's look stunning. You can actually very clearly see the 8 tiny arrows in one of the pics.

Derekinla has a point...it may be a bit big for the center stone. I have a 1.73, and .10 were the best fit with them. Even then I could go smaller...I tried on bigger (.20 pointers), but even the jeweler said it looked "too big".

Head over to a store and check out different looks. Also check your tolerance on the color difference, because if you got a D, matching side stones would be best at least at G... I say get smaller better color stones, or the color will be so obvious compared to a D. I assume even the ACA melee will not be a finely cut as a larger stone can be, so the color might actually look odd against your center stone. Maybe Whiteflash can handle it.

That should work just fine. My fiance' has a "D" colored center stone with "G-H" colored diamonds in her wedding band and the whole package looks beautiful. The diamonds that are set in wedding bands are usually so small compared to the center stone or diamonds that are set into the engagement ring that as long as you are within that "G-I" range than most if not all of the time they will all match nicely. So I wouldn't worry about it. Good luck!

I talked to Lesley at Whiteflash whom was FABULOUS and have bought the stones. Since my x-prong setting is 4.5mm, I wanted a 4mm band. The stones I bought are not "melee", they are all AGS graded stones in the 3.88mm range. I also already have a comfort fit 4mm plain wedding band so I wanted something I could wear with my engagement ring sometimes and other times on my right hand. I know they may look huge with my diamond but I wanted a WOW ring!! Will post pictures soon.

Marriahlyn, I understand your Bling factor. I just did the same. I decided on a tiny pave 2.5mm band, and now I am looking at a 1.65ctcw eternity band and a blingier 2.5tcw eternity ring...

God, why do diamonds look so fabulous?!

Whiteflash really goes all the way! AGS certs on 0.2 (or a tad more?)

Sounds very much 'wow'.

BTW: those little ones are usually sold by the handfull, not picked one by one for cut, like these lucky few ! Forget about that unfortunate French word... These stones seem the proverbial exception that confirms the rule

I chose the 5 stone over this 3.5 H SI estate platinum eternity band from a seller I love on Ebay. The price is $1825 on that eternity but I passed it up because I want something I can wear daily and eternity would be too uncomfortable.

Ok, does anyone else have that idea? I too have wondered if the eternity style is good, due to being uncomfortable...?

Mara has one on her e-ring, and matching w-ring, but she says it doesn't bother HER...? I considered a set like yours too marriah, so now that you say that I get all confused!!! That's a FABULOUS price, because the prices I saw for my 2.5tcw was about $3,000-$2,600...

Who is this E-Bay seller and do you know their quality?

Nic, eternity bands are uncomfortable on me as well, especially when you get larger melees.

The ebay seller on that ring is barbgems. She's mainly an estate buyer and seller and I've bought 2 rings from her and they were just as stated.
