What do you think? Is "I" color a lot more noticeable in a large stone?

I''ve heard that it can be, although it''s more noticible in fancy cuts. My 1.55ct RB "I" isn''t anymore "colorful" than my 0.47 RB "G" though. And I am color sensitive.

I am very color sensitive, and I am getting a 2.3 carat I colored stone. I actually like the I color. It''s like "winter white" as opposed to "stark white" and it compliments my skin tone a lot. I''m setting it in platinum, and I think it looks great. I can see a bit of color through the side and if I turn it over, but it is sparkly and white from the top. I wouldn''t hesitate to buy an I color stone. Mine is an EGL cert also, BTW, and it was appraised as an I, so the cert was correct.

I color is more noticeable in a poorly cut stone. In a larger stone it will also be more noticeable, but not so much in a well cut stone. As stated above, many people actually prefer the lower color and even though cert is from EGL, the company behind the stone is solid.

Personally I like the warmer colours and have an EGL certed L which too is a large diamond and it faces up very white. This diamond is a teesny tad on the shallow side and has a very large table, but it might be a great buy for the money, see what WF think. A diamond this size won't be ICY WHITE but a slightly warmer white which I love, you will see more colour from the side than face up. I am assuming you are happy with the cut quality, if unsure you could post the crown and pavillion angles or %'s for the cut nuts to help you with.

I dont know what you consider a lot more noticeable. But I would ask one of the people at Whiteflash what they think of the stone, they would not want you to be anything less then thrilled with your stone.
Though I would not have a problem with the "I" color as that is what was choosen for me.

I would be more concerned with the cut the the "I" color

Haha this is precisely what I was thinking....

Yup cut is key, then color, clarity etc.....

I bought a 4.10 I color round stone from Whiteflash and I am very happy with it. The one you are considering sounds like a great price for such a large stone. I would call Brian and ask him what he thinks of it.

My stone is an eye clean SI2 Ideal cut (not ACA) and I am very happy with it. I was willing to sacrifice clarity and color for cut, size and price. I condsidered a G or H but there was a huge price difference in this size. I dont kow how to trransfer pictures (unless someone wants to do it for me) but you can see the pictures of my ring under my name in show me the ring. Mara was also kind enough to post pictures of my ring on I colored platinum.

Mara and several others got gorgeous J colored stones. Depending upon what Brian says about the stone, you may want to drop to a very well cut J and an eye clean SI2 to keep within your budget and get a dazzling stone. A well cut J will be more beautiful than a poorly cut I. Take a look at the many beautiful J colored stones on this site.
