Hi, I''m new here and searching for a 1 ct diamond to upgrade my e-ring. I found this one on James Allen:

Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.01
Cut: Ideal
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: GIA

Depth: 60.5%
Table: 57.0%
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle: Thin to Medium
Culet: None
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.56*6.49*3.95

Price: ~$5300

All numbers looks good. The HCA score came as 1.6 I think. I just not sure about the cloud inclusion in the table. Looks noticeable to me, but the staff at James Allen assure me that with a VS2, it should be eye clean. And the price is very attractive.

What do you think? Please help me with some advice.

Thanks in advance!

Here is the image of the GIA certificate showing the inclusion.
I''m waiting for them to send me more images.

Hi waterlily

The diamond has definite potential, post the IS image when you have it then we can take a look for you.

ya, looks promising.

Here is the diamond image. Will the cloud at 4 o''clock position on the table be visible by un-aided eye? Thanks.

Probably not at VS2 level, but you have to ask JA, no way to judge if the stone is eye-clean from the loupe image.

Can''t tell if it is eyeclean from an image waterlily, ask JA to evaluate it for you.

Here is the Ideal Scope image for this diamond. It seems have some leakage on the table, and the cloud inclusion is even visible in IS image! Is it a good buy at $5000?

One thing to understand about the diamond images is that they are extremely magnified. The actual diamond is 1/10th or more of the image size, so most likely you would not be able to see the inclusion. The only way to be sure is to ask the vendor, or check yourself.

actual diamond size vs image = 6.5mm vs 6.25 inches for anyone wanting to figure out the scale

The leakage is slight Lily, ask for JA's gemologist to evaluate the diamond for you, it is possible that the leakage won't be visible in reality but do ask to be sure and also just check it is eyeclean, it should be. To put the size into perspective, the stone will be around the size of a pencil eraser. If you aren't sure though and would like a diamond with a ' picture perfect' IS image then see what else is out there.

Thank you all for your opinion.

Lorelei, I guess my question is more like that, with the limited budget ($5000), is this one a good combination of quality and price?

And this is another one I''m looking at. It is F VS2 also, but it is a IGI certified

and much cheaper.
Shape: Round
Carat weight: 1.01
Cut: Ideal
Color: F
Clarity: VS2
Certificate: IGI

Depth: 61.3%
Table: 56.0%
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good
Girdle:
Culet: None

Measurements: 6.41*6.45*3.95

No crown and pavilion angle available yet, but the image looks really good.
What do you think about this one? The picture is in this thread:

Okay, turn out that the IGI diamond has strong blue florescent and looks hazy. Now back to this one.
What do the dark areas around the arrow stems mean? Thanks.
