So I have been shopping around and found a really nice 1.25ct stone. To the eye this stone is extremely nice and I think this is the one. Keep in mind that I have seen this and compared it against other options which all were superb diamond choices, but this seems to be the one that may fall in the right price range for me.

Was hoping for some opinions and what would be considered a decent price range for this diamond...

GIA Certificate
1.25ct
G
SI1
Cut Grade: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Fluorescence: None

Depth: 61.2 %
Table: 54 %
Crown Angle: 34.5°
Crown Height: 15.5 %
Pavilion Angle: 40.8°
Pavilion Depth: 43 %
Star length: 50 %
Lower Half: 80 %

Holloway Advisor rating: 1.3 Excellent

Girdle: Thin to Medium, Faceted
Culet: None

This stone is truly beautiful and I was told it is a very strong SI1, and I would agree that it is very clean. I've been diamond shopping so I am learning by eye what is nice, and what isn't.

Like the sound of it:)?

I don't have any pics, but I was comparing against 4 other stones that were cherry picked by a personal diamond seller. This gentleman knows his diamonds well, and also takes the time to REALLY learn what is important to me, what I can live with, what I can't, and he came up with some superb choices.

I am torn between this 1.25 stone, and another 1.30 that is also a gorgeous stone. The 1.30ct was graded in 2002 so it doesn't have all of the specs and measurements available. This stone has a nice measurement size so it looks bigger than the 1.25. It isn't HUGE compared to it, but I can see it a tiny bit. What I know about the 1.30ct is:

GIA Certification from 2002
1.30ct

Measurements: 7.15 - 7.21 x 4.28 mm
Color Grade: H
Clarity Grade: VS1
Fluorescence: None
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Very Good

Depth: 59.6 %
Table: 58 %

Girdle: Very Thin to Thin, Faceted
Culet: None

This is going to be a HARD Decision. Both are extremely clean, bright, and amazing!!

What would be considered a decent price for these stones? Ranges are fine, since I know that there are many factors that can change the actual pricing.

Help me choose:)

Your stone should be in the 6500-7300 range....stick with the 1st stone, the second one has poorer dimensions based on the small amount of stats you list

The girdle on this stone worries me. Very thin to thin. What part is very thin?? I am still going to say go for stone #1. JMHO.

yep, agree

The 1.30ct with the Very Thin to Thin girdle is an awesome stone, but I am not sure the specifics. I have asked, asked, and asked some more and most people told me that Very thin would be fine, but to stay away from Extremely thin.

The 1.30ct seems to "look" bigger in its dimensions when looking at it so that is the only real reason why I want to keep considering it. It sort of bothers me that I don''t know all of the other specs since the GIA didn''t offer those in the past. However, I do like how it looks bigger.

Both stones are amazingly eye clean, even with a 10x loupe you could hardly see anything. The GIA cert drawings of inclusions were also very clean, so I am very impressed with both.

Seems like the 1.25 is the winner here in the forum :)

Anyone else think the 1.30 is still worth considering since it has a nice sized dimension, or should I go with the 1.25 and be happy that is is a great stone as is being a teeny tiny bit smaller?:)

You should be happy with the smaller better stone, if you want bigger, cough up the extra 500 or 1000 bucks and get a bigger ideal stone like the 1st one. It looks bigger because of the wider table (not ideal), thin girdle and lesser than ideal depth.....

Thanks for all of the great info.

Would anyone say that a table size of 54% on the 1.25 is a little small? Or do the dimensions work out pretty good in relation to the rest of the dimensions?

Just want to be sure this diamond is a really good one. I will be paying in the $7K range and change.

Ditto.

Thanks for the tips on the diamond, you guys have all made my choice a lot easier. The 1.25ct really does seem to have a lot going for it, so I think I am going to jump at it. I''m happy enough with the size and am glad it is rates well among the many diamonds I have seen in the stores.

Some say I am better off buying a larger stone that isn''t as good, but I just can''t bring myself to buying a stone that isn''t as top notch as I could within that price range and my budget. Glad I was able to make it up to 1.25ct and I love the stone :)
