Here are two diamonds that are in my price range. Both sellers have great reputations on PS. The GOG looks like it has some color to it but it has an AGS cut rating and may have more sparkle. I requested a couple of idealscope images from James Allen. Is that going to help me or is the ASET image the most reliable?

Thank you all for your input.

P.S. Feel free to suggest any other diamonds.

I definitely prefer the GOG diamond. Better light return and contrast pattern--it is one of the best cut princesses I''ve seen. A well cut J color will be very white, though more of a warm, eggshell white than an icy white, like the E. The WF is a very good diamond, so if you decide to go with a colorless, it would be a good choice.

ASET is preferable to IS for princess and other fancy shapes. James Allen only offers IS, however. You can still tell a lot from an Idealscope image, so please post them when you receive those.

If you are seriously interested in either the GOG or the WF stone, make sure to place them on hold to avoid lurker poaching.

I''d also go for the GOG stone, although the WF stone would look better than the vast majority of stones on the market. They are facing up the same size, so no advantage there.

As jet mentioned, we prefer ASET for fancies, but an IS can give us a good idea. So go ahead and post the JA stones when you get them.

While the WF princess stone is pretty, the GOG princess blows my socks off.

An IS is better than nothing but ASET will tell us more with fancy cuts like a princess cut stone.

yap, prefer the GOG stone.

Ditto; I would take the drop in color and carat weight to get that awesome GOG stone! The WF stone does have a nice ASET, but the JA stone is cut a lot more precisely. It''s also possible that the WF stone may not be eye-clean - you''d have to ask.

Do share the IS images and photos from JA; while they''re not as helpful as ASETs, they still provide some good info.

Thanks for everyones input. I appreciate getting an educated eye perspective. I will post the images I get from JA.

Don''t let your little feets get cold....:)

I agree the GOG diamond is a stunner!!

Do any of these have potential? Or is the GOG going to be better?
These are the ones that I requested idealscope images for.

GOG is still the best.

#1, not sure, with only a GD symm, the pic is highly distorted, so not useful.
#2 and #3, extremely thin girdle is dangerous for any diamond, especially for princess, depends on the location and the extent of the extremely thin part, but not hopeful. #3 has a nice pattern though, IS could be good.

Ditto, I prefer 3 based on the numbers and photos. Keep in mind that all of these are pretty far off-square. I prefer a L:W ratio of 1.04 or less.

I wanted to thank everyone for their input. It''s great to have a place like this where people are experienced and can offer help to someone like me(ultra-newbie). It really helped me feel confident with my decision. I decided to go with the GOG stone. I haven''t received a response from JA yet and I figured time was of the essence. I went with a solitare setting so I think the color won''t be too much of an issue since there won''t be other diamonds around it.
Once again thanks to everyone who share their thoughts.
I will post pictures.

Congrats. :)

Congratulations!! You won''t be sorry.
