Here are the stats on my diamond - solitaire setting, looking to upgrade the setting, but I really don''t know what best complements a Marquise.

And I kinda want to know all of your opinions about the stats of my diamond. We picked it out not knowing a ton about diamonds in general. I''m not trading it in or anything, because at this point it has sentimental value.

AIG cert.

measurements....10.70 x 6.00 x 4.15mm
weight....1.58ct.

depth...69.20%
table....55.00%
girdle....slightly thick to thick, faceted
culet...none

polish...good
symmetry...very good

clarity....I1
color....K
fluorescence...weak, blue

So clearly it is not a "best pick" by any stretch, but is it really that bad? I consider the inclusions that I can see, which is only two wisps, and the dirtier the stone gets, the more visible it is. But when it''s freshly cleaned it''s beautiful!

Oh and please excuse the ill fit - it needs to be resized. It''s an 8, and I probably need a 8.75 now.
Here is also a picture of the inclusion chart on the diamond grading report.

If it is eyeclean then congrats on finding a great I1 also!

Have you seen the east west set marquise? That can be a setting you could consider.

Looks very nice to me :), I also would suggest an E-W setting, possibly a half bezel I think that would look beautifully fluid :).

Feline, I hope you can get some inspiration from those ideas to reset your gorgeous stone!

I really like the look of that east west halo!

My favorite for a marquise would be to bezel set it in a delicate halo E/W on a wide tapered platinum or white gold band (the wide part of the band on top and thinner part on the back/underside). Wish I had a way to post a photo using my blackberry, but I think you''ve got plenty of nice photo examples already. Anyway, your stone looks very pretty, no use worrying about the stats if you plan on keeping it due to sentimental value. As long as you can''t see any black inclusions, it sparkles like crazy, and you love it, that''s all that matters.

Me too, or the one with the step/traps sides - I am liking this more and more, esp. the Leon type..

Wow, those are some beautiful settings. I had never seen a halo like that before. Wow!! Please let us know what you decide.

Gorgeous diamond! I saw some pretty Richard Landi designs that have marquise centers. I saw his stuff at a show and it is gorgeous! This one is style LDR507:

I think your stone looks really pretty and very white for a K - good job! I really like the look of the E/W halo!

I love how clean and classic it looks and wouldn''t change a thing!

I have to know more about this one (second one, just below the one with the mini-marquise side diamonds.

Thanks for the compliment, and I do get comments on it a lot. But mostly just because of it''s size, and the fact that I am fairly young and work in a customer service environment, so people are always surprised to see a stone this big on me. I see many women with such beeeautiful settings, and I get jealous :) lol!
