Now that 2021 is drawing to an end, what do you look forward to in 2022?

Here are mine for no particular order:
  • More gainful employment in my day job to two-thirds of my capacity (I have been working only a third of my capacity since late 2019).
  • Getting more involved as a new member of an international charitable organisation, locally to start with as part of the organising team for a big outdoor event in June 2022.
  • Continue to improve in playing the clarinet, with the aim to get involved with a local band/music group.
  • Go out and about in my campervan with my dog, hopefully I could make it to Mainland Europe later in the year.
  • Travel to Canada to visit my folks later in the year, Covid restrictions permitting.
  • For the world to be better prepared and protected against Covid-19 and its variants, so that life can get back to some sort of normality as we once knew and loved.
What do you look forward to in 2022?

DK :))

Being closer to the end of this pandemic.

Other than that I take it one day at a time.

There are lots of things up in the air for us.
I try not looking too far ahead as it can be overwhelming.
One day at a time.
One hour at a time.

Hoping for the best but trying to be prepared for whatever may be.

Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2022. ♥️

I want the masks to go away. I'm totally disgusted with them. Our state has an indoor mask mandate, and the gov will probably not budge for the foreseeable future.

Being employed again. I found out a month or so ago that my job (that I lost due to COVID) doesn’t exist anymore. Time to saddle up and get back out there!

I want to be able to go visit my home again. Even just being able to see somewhere in my home country would be good. I'd like to see my brother and my sister in law (it'd be nice if I could meet the baby they're expecting. It would be nice if they could see our new little one). My mother in law would probably like to see her new grandson, although I can not see this happening. I guess I would like to see some of my professional colleagues. They're a little delocalised and we used to catch up a few times a year through travel, it would be nice to see them again -- this sounds strange but they're like >95% of my friends, I havent seen the vast majority of my friends or family members face to face in the last 2 years.

Looking forward to having my parents over to the US again, last time I saw them in person was December 2019.

Would love to take my youngest on an epic European trip for their high school graduation…

Looking forward to being an empty nester by fall. Hoping my kiddo gets into college of choice!

With all due respect @stracci2000 and not to be contrary but I think you are fortunate your state has an indoor mask mandate. It is definitely safer to wear a mask indoors when out with strangers vs not wearing a mask indoors. If everyone wears their masks indoors everyone is better for it ie more protected from getting Covid. Again I am not trying to be argumentative. I just don't see a downside at this point in time when Covid is on an upswing.

Of course I too am looking forward to a future without Covid 19 and one where we are mask free. Cannot wait. But I want it to be safe before we get rid of our masks.

I know, I know......I get it, I really do. I haven't had a cold in 2 years, so I know they work.

I have mask fatigue. I go into grocery stores all day for my job. Mask on to go into a store, off in the car, back on again to go into a store, off again in the car. All day long. Maybe 5-10 times, depending on where I go.
I am so grateful that I do not work in the stores, they have to be masked up for 8 hours, except for eating on break.

I'm hoping to be able to start travelling again. Not sure if that will happen. And being able to freely see my friends, indoors and out, without being nervous about Covid. And I plan to continue to study Italian (I'm lousy at languages) so that when I can travel again, I can get back to Italy and perhaps be able to use what I've learned.

I wish my state mandated masks indoors. *sigh*

Getting new windows installed for the house, ordered months ago, still waiting for delivery;
Perhaps getting solar panels, still doing research;
Selling my Mercedes and either taking DH's Subaru when he gets his new one, or;
Getting myself a new Subaru.

Looking forward to...

-better employment opportunities and more industries embracing remote work options.

-better healthcare options for Americans.

-personal wellness improvements like more exercise and a better diet.

And overall I just wish people would be more kind, respectful, and thoughtful. Social media showers people with attention for snappy, irritating and sometimes dangerous behavior. That's no way to live. We need to get a grip.

Since my goal of moving MIL into an independent assisted living facility happened this week (yay), I have little I need now.

I would love to see less divisiveness and more unity in the US and the world. I hate the us vs them mantra we are embroiled in. Remember after 9/11 the Patriotism was off the charts. I miss that!

I also hope we see a return to all in-person learning for students. I teach middle schoolers and I do not like what I am seeing emotionally, behavior wise and academically. The kids are not alright :(

Seeing an end to the pandemic, or at least a time when we don't have to weigh up the pros and cons of every thing we do.

On a purely personal level, seeing our new home finished and moving in so we can start our life here in the US for real, as opposed to feeling like we're on holiday. We love living with our DS & DIL, but we don't feel truly settled as we'll be moving to a different area when the house is ready.

I know I will be moving this summer and I am dreading it and looking forward to it for different reasons. I’m moving to a place I don’t really want to go, but with the lower cost of living can buy a gorgeous home for a very reasonable cost. So we will be very comfortable at least! I’m also going to use my discretionary spending money more for home items than bling this year, hence the smaller bling plans (set some loose stones I already own but otherwise no big plans).

What a fun question!

I am hoping 2022 will be my highest income earning year now that I achieved National certification in 2021. Hubby and I are going to travel less this year, which should help in saving.
Hubby should be making more progress on his research this year. I really hope this year provides more clarification on when he can graduate.

2022 feels like it will be a quiet year. I am just hoping things stay stable and don’t go wonky.

Getting the house sold in spring and traveling in our brand new 5th wheel camper for the next 2-3 years. Can't wait.

That sounds like so much fun!!

I hope so! We don't know and we may hate it. LOL. But this house is not our forever house and too many people want to buy right now not to take advantage of that. We don't know where we want to end up either so we'll look at everything everywhere.

Come to Oregon to see Crater Lake National Park (as well as our other spectacular natural wonders) and I'll treat you to a fancy schmancy meal.

I'm hoping to see my parents, who I haven't seen since April 2019. I'm also looking forward to supporting my youngest as she applies to colleges in the fall. Also want to get back into my usual fitness/nutrition routine so I can feel energetic and healthy again (I fell off the clean-eating wagon big-time in November ::)).

You're sweet. I'd love to! You remember I used to live in CP? Love the area and so much to see and do.

You remember I used to live in CP?
Oh geez, sorry I forgot you lived there. I used to live there too until I moved 4 inches south to Medford :bigsmile:
