Ok, besides the obvious color similarity-- H/I or I/J .

How close in size should they be? if one is 4.46 mm and the other in 4.56 is that ok? Any rule of thumb on limit to size differential?

Do you worry about crown/pavillion angles being similar--like you don''t want a certain combo, both need to be similar in depth? shallowness? Are all ACA and ES diamonds similar enough that you can ignore any of those issues?

I am looking ahead on how to spend my yearly Christmas bonus. It will be the first time I have bought something for myself. I am looking at the total to be $1400 and will probably buy at Whiteflash, 3 prong martini. I guess that puts me into the .3 to .4 range for tcw of .6-.7, right? Is that good for everyday wear?

So to sum it up--anything to look for besides color and size?

And if I want to save money I would want I/J and SI1 or 2 but they rarely have two just like I want at the same time. Would you grab one, buy it and then wait for the next few months for a match to come up?

Thanks all, and this forum is creating a monster in me in regards to wanting more diamonds, sigh, I''m sure that''s the evil plan

Call WhiteFlash and tell them what you want and they will find what you need.

I would definitely buy both at the same time. It would be very dangerous to buy one and then wait for a match. I try to find stones that are very close in diameter...such as 4.44 and 4.49 would be about the widest span I''d go for. The other thing I tried to get was a similar table size, such as 55-56 or 56-57. As long as both stones are ACA''s, the other specs will be close enough that you don''t have to get into matching all the angles exactly, in my opinion. Color, diameter, and table were the three things I tried to match as long as the diamonds were ideal cut. Because I was picky, it took a few months to find what I wanted, but I eventually did find two almost perfectly matched stones! Good luck!

What a great gift for yourself! Since you have about half a year to look for a pair of diamonds, I'd call WF to tell them what you're looking for. I'm sure they would be able to find you a great pair of matching diamonds. I would also look in the I/J, VS2-SI2 range. SI's as long as they are eye clean. For $1400, you could get ACA diamonds in the .60-.70tcw range. I have a pair of ACA studs, .70tcw, I, VS2, and love them! I wear them everyday and they are perfect!
