From what I can tell the prices seem fair but I am not such an expert on other specs besides the four C''s. The seller does seem to have very positive feedback and people are making diamond purchases from him and seem satisfied.

Let me know

Well ... on the one hand, I think buying a diamond on eBay is a terrible idea (try doing a search on 2Artists - a wonderful couple who are still on-forum who had a really awful experience with eBay when an unscrupulous seller misrepresented a stone that had been set *upside-down* as a rose-cut). On the other hand, there are posters around here who''ve had great experiences finding deals (try searching ForteKitty) ... but I''m not seeing any of the things that would provide that level of comfort for ME in the auctions you linked.

I could be wrong here, but that looks like the exact same diamond in both auctions (same tiny inclusion): they don''t list a location, but only an 800 number; and a 14 day return period seems a little tight to me if you factor in a visit to an appraiser. And the prices actually seem a bit higher than the ones I get when I try using the PriceScope search tool at the top of the page for similar stones ... I''d pass if I were you, I think.

the thing about ebay is that it''s easier for a seller to suddenly close shop and disappear. (moreso than a proper online store and of course, a B&M store). even if the seller has 100% feedback thus far, who knows anything about that person , who they are, what they are like, etc. Just be aware of that risk , and understand how much you will be spending and risking, then it''s all up to you if you want to take it!

ditto this 100%.
This was exactly what happened to me (not diamonds, something else)..everything checked out, feedback, return policy etc - then when the item was fugazi and I tried to return it - they were simply gone.
Luckily, Paypal reimbursed me, but if it had been more than $100 I would''ve been freaking out.

Gobrewers, obviously you are happy with searching for a diamond online, and you have come to the right place. If you start a post with some kind of idea what you are looking for (size, shape, budget), there are many here who will gadly assist you to find a great diamond and avoid getting ripped along the way..

the price seems right for the size, color, clarity, but it is not cheap enough for me to take the risk. Actually consider the risk, this stone is way too expensive.

Just saying...

Pros:
$

Cons:
You don''t have a real word of mouth reputation like some of the vendors on here.
No trade-up policy.
No ideal-scope, ASET, "I''m looking at this diamond right now, & I can tell you it''s perfect" from a real person...

The other con, is who''s to say they are offering pics of the actual stone you are getting. There have been good responses using ebay, but there have been MANY negative ones that have led to stress and heartache. Save yourself the trouble and go with a reputable dealer that you can trust, and know you will get a product they stand behind. you have found PS and you will get a better price here knowing what you purchse is what you buy. You can''t find a better price for quality anywhere.... My suggestion is don''t do it. Would you buy a car from a dealer with an open door policy with good return and upgrade policies, as well as countless recommendations, or would you buy a car from someone with no recommendations of people you can talk to and no location listed...

We just sold our diamond on Ebay for WAAAY more than what our local jewelers would have given us in a trade in, and more than what we paid for it 10 years ago.. We also bought a diamond off Ebay from a power seller a few weeks ago.. The Ebay vendor''s pricing is better than the PS vendor pricing.. I couldn''t have been happier.. But, that doesn''t mean I was scared sh**liss after mailing them a check and hoping he would deliver the stone.. PS Vendors prices will be higher than Ebay, but the premium is justified imo..

I personally wouldn''t make a large purchase like this on the world''s largest flee market. I''d check out whiteflash.com, jamesallen.com, goodoldgold.com as trusted vendors.

The cert on your first diamond is over 3 years old. Is stone in same condition? And wasn''t it in 2005 when AGS changed their grading criteria?

Thanks for all the info guys. I also thought that it sounded a little fishy and after reading how AGS changed there criteria on I decided against it. I also found similar diamonds using the price search for about the same.

I will probably buy from one of the vendors you mentioned but am hoping to find one who has a setting similar to this. It is the Art Carved Rosina in Paladium. Perhaps you guys could help me find a reputable vendor who has a similar ring.

The ring is hard to describe and the picture is little help, but it looks as if the diamonds are connected on there own, I believe they said it had a shared prong and if you look at the ring from the side the diamonds look like part of the side instead of being set in the actual ring.

I''m glad you decided against ebay. Sure, sometimes there are bargains to be had,but you really need to know what you''re doing.

The setting you have linked is a common style - most vendors will carry something similiar, if not most likely source it or make it custom, but I don''t think you will need to.
Just whoever you decide to buy from, send them the pic for an idea of what you''re after and they can make suggestions from their stock.

Here is a pic of The Legato shared prong from WF -almost identical. And to my knowledge WF hand make these settings, so could be better quality than art carved?
