Speaking of cars I know several here love their Prius.

Here is a CNET review comparing the Prius to its new competition.

Thanks for the help everyone! I will be going to test drive VWs this weekend as well as hitting up the Toyota dealership. I''m definitely excited! luvthemstrawberries, thanks for the input. I''m gonna try out your car since I definitely like the look, but have never been in one. If I was to go for a Tacoma I would have gone for cover in the back that can be removed whenever so that my puppies would stay protected from the wind and rain. I always worry when I see dogs hanging out of their owner''s truck beds...

I drive a Honda Pilot and my husband has a Nissan Pathfinder. With three kids and boosters/car seats, we really need a minivan!

Hehe not that I''ve done that to it...

Infinity G35X (all wheel drive) - great in the snow/ice/rain.

I drive a 2001 silver Honda Civic LX. It's a pretty good car, though I'm itching to get a new one as it gets older and starts costing me more money (not that a new car would cost me less, but it's hard to pay $1000+ on maintenance for a car that's only worth $4500). But I'll drive it til it drops. My next car may be a Mini, as much as I love Hondas.

ETA: My car has 117,000 miles and hasn't had anything other than routine stuff done except for recently when I spun it around on the highway at high speeds (damn deer) and needed to replace the crank shaft position sensor (or whatever it's called). I've had up to 36mpg highway at times, but it's usually around 32mpg.

When they came out with the LR2, I was so happy because I finally found the car that truly made me happy. It was a brand new model but based on the old Freelander model. There actually weren''t any reliability ratings on my LR2 since it is was brand new model year. I had heard things about Land Rovers, especially the Discovery, and how unreliable they could be. But. My LR2 is a luxury SUV. It does its job - I drive it in total comfort and it has all the tools I need in a car - navigation, etc.
You sound just like I did ... before the heartbreak. Substitute in ''Freelander'' for ''LR2'' and that was my case exactly. And then the rain. Oh the oil-soaked awful rain. I hope they fixed whatever was terribly terribly wrong with the Freelander in the LR2 -- but I personally wouldn''t count on it. Aren''t they owned by FORD now? I wasn''t feeling so luxurious sitting on the side of the road four-five times in 2 yrs.

Land Rover was purchased by Tata Motors...they also own the new Jaguar company too.

We drive a 06 Nissan Altima. This is our very first import that I have ever had. After driving it for 3 years and 3 months, we''ll be replacing the brakes, wipers, and battery before the lease is up in April. I suppose it''s normal wear of a vehicle for over 3 years old. I wouldn''t know as I never have leased a car for more than 3 years.

Once this lease is up we will be going back to a domestic - GMC Acadia. It is a crossover/suv.

I''m pretty sure that''s what I have, too. I know it''s a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I think it''s the Limited. It now has 110, 000 miles on it-the same number of miles on our 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee-however. My husband''s Honda Civic Hybrid (I forget the year) has nice, low mileage. I am hoping for the début of a greener 4-wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle, though. I really don''t want to give up that feature now that I have gotten used to it. Connecticut isn''t Canada, but it''s not Florida, either. I like a car that can handle snow.

AGBF, I''ve lived in PA and upstate NY and CT has the worst snow driving I''ve experienced. The snow falls all at once only a few times a winter, but you get a lot on those few days. And the worst part, they don''t salt! At least not in Fairfield County. I love driving in snow and never had a problem, even in upstate NY, but even I get nervous around here. My little Civic just doesn''t have much traction when they onyl throw some sand down on top of the snow.

Sorry for the threadjack!

It''s a very fun car to drive! It has a sporty feel without being a complete sports car, so I guess you could think of it as a sporty sedan. Not a "smooth" riding car, as it is made so that you can feel the road. We needed a new car and found it listed on Craig''s list - a 2006 with only 8,000 miles on it! It is in great condition, the woman just used it to drive to the train everyday for work & for running local errands (they used their SUV to cart the kids around). Infinity has upgraded the G35X to a G37X, which has a great design. However, if you are looking for a used G35X, make sure you find a model after 2005, as older models have had break issues.

We also love the coupe!

omieluv - I have the 2008 G35x model. I had the 2005 model, and the 2008 model rides much smoother and is also still a blast to drive. I love the way it handles. I really wanted the coupe, but my husband is too tall to ride in it comfortably. We tried everything to stuff him in there, but it just didn''t work. The sedan is still a little tight for him, but he knew how much I wanted it and made the sacrifice.

My Jeep has the most amazing traction that I have ever had, I have had 4 wheel drive SUV''s since 1996, but my Jeep goes in anything, I love that about it

Deegee - I am guessing 2005 & 2006 models ride the same then. How tall is your hubby?? My FI is 6''2 and seems to have enough room, however, we do have to have the seats back because we both have long legs (I am 5''8"). Still though, there is ample room in the back for passengers. What do you think of the G37x''s?

I drive a Honda Civic that we bought during medical school. The plan is to drive it at least through my residency and fellowship. It is a great car. Great mileage! We''ve had it for 4 years and not had any problems with it thus far.

Yes the CR bad review has the Honda Insight fora all abuzz.
I'm looking for Honda's response (which I stumbled across a couple days ago) which adds up the good and bad reviews of the new Insight with the good being over 90% and the bad less than 10%.

Car related magazines, rate it well.
Refrigerator and toaster review magazines . . . well . .

Oh and the Prius customers should thank Honda.
Toyota recently announced price of their next generation 2010 Prius, and it is thousands below what was expected (albeit striped naked).
I credit this to Honda's pricing their new Insight, entry level, below $20K.
Finally the Prius has some competition.
That is healthy for both brands.

Oh well Dancing Fire...it looks like your Muscle Car days are over...may they RIP!

I drive a 2009 Honda CRV EX...getting about 25 city and 31-32 highway. Love it!

i''m too practical: currently driving a 1996 honda accord ex and/or 1995 ford f-150.....both bought used. i''m no longer into driving off the lot with a new car. currently lusting over a 2006 ORANGE mini cooper listed in the area on craigs list..........sigh.

hey DF, I''l let ya drive my Vroooom Vette!

I have a 2008 Honda CRV and DH has a 2001 Camry. Camry has 136K on it and we are looking around for a new car. We are considering the new Honda Insight, but that bad review really got my attention. I''ll have to show it to him.

I really like the CRV and got it cause it was roomy but still a small car to drive and park and had a 5 star crash rating, front and side.

The Camry has never done anything wrong more than normal maintenance. My DH takes terrible care of it and it carries on anyway. The car is really strong and reliable.

Another car I think is cute is the Mazda 3. Anyone have it?

I drive a Chevy HHR LT. DH drives a Chevy Uplander, well, when he''s not deployed.

FWIW, I just found Honda's reply to Consumer Reports' negative review of Honda's new hybrid, the Insight.

http://automobiles.honda.com/insight-hybrid/latest-insight.aspx

Now I mostly drive my 2009 Genuine Buddy scooter, but my car is a 1997 Toyota Camry. I hope it lives forever because I don''t like buying cars!

I love my Toyota Prada. And it is cheap to fix and service! It also drives like a car, very zippy for such a big 4wd. Good turning circle and....navigation...a must for me!
