Thanks for the help everyone! I will be going to test drive VWs this weekend as well as hitting up the Toyota dealership. I''m definitely excited! luvthemstrawberries, thanks for the input. I''m gonna try out your car since I definitely like the look, but have never been in one. If I was to go for a Tacoma I would have gone for cover in the back that can be removed whenever so that my puppies would stay protected from the wind and rain. I always worry when I see dogs hanging out of their owner''s truck beds...Date: 7/21/2009 10:43:23 AM

Infinity G35X (all wheel drive) - great in the snow/ice/rain.
Land Rover was purchased by Tata Motors...they also own the new Jaguar company too.Date: 7/20/2009 5:33:16 PM

You sound just like I did ... before the heartbreak. Substitute in ''Freelander'' for ''LR2'' and that was my case exactly. And then the rain. Oh the oil-soaked awful rain. I hope they fixed whatever was terribly terribly wrong with the Freelander in the LR2 -- but I personally wouldn''t count on it. Aren''t they owned by FORD now? I wasn''t feeling so luxurious sitting on the side of the road four-five times in 2 yrs.Date: 7/20/2009 4:41:14 PM

When they came out with the LR2, I was so happy because I finally found the car that truly made me happy. It was a brand new model but based on the old Freelander model. There actually weren''t any reliability ratings on my LR2 since it is was brand new model year. I had heard things about Land Rovers, especially the Discovery, and how unreliable they could be. But. My LR2 is a luxury SUV. It does its job - I drive it in total comfort and it has all the tools I need in a car - navigation, etc.![]()
AGBF, I''ve lived in PA and upstate NY and CT has the worst snow driving I''ve experienced. The snow falls all at once only a few times a winter, but you get a lot on those few days. And the worst part, they don''t salt! At least not in Fairfield County. I love driving in snow and never had a problem, even in upstate NY, but even I get nervous around here. My little Civic just doesn''t have much traction when they onyl throw some sand down on top of the snow.Date: 7/20/2009 11:03:04 PM

I''m pretty sure that''s what I have, too. I know it''s a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I think it''s the Limited. It now has 110, 000 miles on it-the same number of miles on our 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee-however. My husband''s Honda Civic Hybrid (I forget the year) has nice, low mileage. I am hoping for the début of a greener 4-wheel drive or all wheel drive vehicle, though. I really don''t want to give up that feature now that I have gotten used to it. Connecticut isn''t Canada, but it''s not Florida, either. I like a car that can handle snow.

It''s a very fun car to drive! It has a sporty feel without being a complete sports car, so I guess you could think of it as a sporty sedan. Not a "smooth" riding car, as it is made so that you can feel the road. We needed a new car and found it listed on Craig''s list - a 2006 with only 8,000 miles on it! It is in great condition, the woman just used it to drive to the train everyday for work & for running local errands (they used their SUV to cart the kids around). Infinity has upgraded the G35X to a G37X, which has a great design. However, if you are looking for a used G35X, make sure you find a model after 2005, as older models have had break issues.Date: 7/22/2009 12:47:11 PM

Speaking of cars I know several here love their Prius.
Here is a CNET review comparing the Prius to its new competition.

I drive a Honda Civic that we bought during medical school. The plan is to drive it at least through my residency and fellowship. It is a great car. Great mileage! We''ve had it for 4 years and not had any problems with it thus far.
