What do you do with your tax refund (if you get one!)?

Hopefully I will not have much of a return, or else I will be pissed at myself. Will definitely be saving whatever I get back though.

We will be getting a refund, we try not to but some life changes this year and I was not sure of the impact so I had extra taken out so DH will get a new woodsplitter. How is that for exciting!!! :snore:

I always bank it for times when I dont have enough money to pay the bills :nono:

Last year I bought 2 new pairs of Gucci pumps and the rest went to student loans. This year should definitely be the last year we get a refund (since DH is finishing school), and we are just putting it into general savings which will come in handy for the trip we're planning this summer.

We would rather not get a refund either. Feds don't let you claim more than ten dependents. We don't have debt except a house,
but we donate enough money every year and with standard deductions we do. We used to have an accountant when we had a
business, but now do turbo tax. It has been great for us.

Neena needs her teeth cleaned... I love spending almost $800 a year on unplanned vet bills. :errrr:

We always put some towards a family vacation :appl: and the rest toward our 3 school tuitions

I think that I should be getting a decent refund this year, since my income was cut in half, and I've been paying tuition. It will go towards paying off my credit card (I've incurred some debt with school books and just adjusting to a much smaller income), and if there's anything left, well, that will be a very unexpected bonus.

Whatever we get back (not expecting much, maybe less than 1K) will go right back into our savings account to make up for what we spend on our vacation next week.

Just like davi, we'll be using ours to pay off unexpected vet bills for our poor kitty Edgar who lost his fight to HCM last year ;(
Even though we knew the end would be sooner rather than later, I'm glad we kept him happy & pain-free for 5 more months.

There should be a little left after that. Even though hubby said I should splurge on something just for me, I must be getting old & mature ( :cheeky: ) because I'm putting it in savings or towards anticipated dental work.

Bump the emergency liquid cash fund back up to 8 months of expenses ::) , pay off my bar course :(( :angryfire: :errrr: and put the rest toward a honeymoon! :appl:  :naughty:

I'm *just now* (as in a few weeks) getting my state refund from 2009! Hoorah IL Dept of Revenue! This money is going to help my parents.

However, I think our refund will be going to helping our parents. My parents' got a big ol' tax penalty from 2009, but my dad is not paying it, so we're paying. And my MIL got in a bad accident, so we'll probably help cover some hospital costs or assisted care or something.

I really want a brow lift.

We are both expecting a substantial amount after diligent research and careful planning (FI is great with numbers). We plan to use the majority of our refunds towards a down payment on our first home. The rest will go back into savings.

All our refund money is going to our adoption fund.

If we weren't in the process of adopting it would go to our Roth IRA and paying off student loans, plus maybe a weekend trip.

I doubt that we're getting much of a refund this year because California is issuing IOU's for state taxes....
But, we usually save the money and pay our hefty 2.2% property tax!

We never get refunds which is exactly how we plan it. Unfortunately though last year we ended up owing a significant amount of money (no penalty thank goodness).
It's not straightforward because I am an independent consultant and don't work a set # hours per week and we had a lot of financial changes in 2009. It all worked out OK and that was the first time we owed but still, I hope that doesn't happen again this year!

Does this mean that you pay 2.2% of your home's value every year for taxes?
