Given last week''s discussion of Wholesale Prices...... here''s an interesting site..... it states they have prices that are BELOW WHOLESALE!

So what do consumers think of this?

I think dealing with them would be a good way of getting took to the cleaners.

First thing I saw was "free appraisals" yea right.

Hi Rock

About twenty odd years ago I had dealings with a rather colorful diamond dealer in Antwerp you would say, “I can sell these goods at cost”.

My reply would be something like “ How can that be, that you can sell these goods at cost”

The dealer would say, grinning through his huge beard. “Its simple, I buy below cost”

Good one Roc
They spent a huge amount of effort on that site.

And the prices are not given - if they were sooo loooow, why not quote them?

Smoke and mirrors

A lot of effort.....heheheh

How about this guys- Don''t you hate it when sellers refer to GIA reports as certificates in advertising?
I mean, we all use the term "Cert" - but I think that if a site is representing themselves as a diamond seller, they should use the correct terminology.
"Certified" implies that GIA is somehow endorsing, or guaranteeing the stone.
It''s a GIA REPORT!!!

Or am I being too picky?

As an observer I''m willing to give the vendor the benefit of the doubt, but as a consumer I sure wouldn''t. First of all, there are no guarantees like participation/membership in the JVC or BBB or a Verisign security symbol. Also, the email address provided is comcast.net.

More likely than not, it''s not a scam, just a non-tech-savvy person trying to bring his or her business to the web. But it''s obviously got a long way to go to attract buyers. Who wants to spend the time contacting them to find out prices? The order form isn''t even sent up for the internet, so if you want to buy, you have to call them. I''d expect to see sites like this in 1998, not 2005.

Hey Johan.....

Well you''re guy was better than this one......

This one sells BELOW COST !!!!

Guess he buys at SUB BELOW COST????

Maybe Neil knows more about them..... they have a 303 area code phone number, I think he''s out in that area!!!

Now one has to ask, what market value is on the FREE APPRAISAL!!! This in itself, like Storm says is very misleading, one has to ponder if its free to the consumer, one must assume its free to the seller (if the seller paid for the appraisal, don''t you think he passed on the charge and added it to the price of the stone ?) Anyone know of any independent appraiser that works at no charge?

Progressive question : What an appraiser worth that works for free?????

Rockdoc

Free appraisals...maybe that''s how they get their diamonds. You send it for appraisal and then they sell it. Or since their appraiser doesn''t put the prices up on their site maybe it''s free because he/she needs practice. I''m not trying to dis them I am just trying to be funny. Their area code doesn''t really mean much without an address because my boyfriend and I run an e-commerce site and we have our phone through Vonage (which goes through your cable modem). You can pick any area code you want, we live in NYC and we could have picked to have a 310 (LA), 602/480 (Phoenix) 303 area code wherever. (we were honest and went with 646) I don''t know why they allow you to do that as a business, as an individual account it wouldn''t be so bad.
