sounds purdy, have you seen it? the 60/60 diamonds have a larger table, and so you don''t get that tight black circle in the bottom of the stone (in the center of the wagon wheel), you will get a larger more diffused, circle. so it will have a different, yet pretty, appearance.

60 -60 diamonds can be extremely attractive, this diamond scored well on the HCA, despite the contrast of the crown and pavillion angles, which probably compensate for each other. If you have seen this diamond and like the look of a 60- 60 and the price is right etc, it might be worth considering. Is this type of cut what you want or have you considered any others? It is in the end a matter of taste and 60 -60's are worn by very happy owners who love their diamonds. Is this diamond certified and if so by whom? It should be a brilliant diamond due to the large table too.

this one is certified by GIA, I do not have chance to see the actually diamond because it is listed online.

is it a risk to get fisheye in it?

I too like 60 /60 stones. My pet rock is indeed such a stone and it's absolutely beautiful. I would put my stone up against any Tiffany stone (and have done so) and it performs just as wonderfully. My stone also scored quite nicely on the HCA.

Hausee, I''m a big fan of the brilliance of a 60/60. I have read that you trade off a little on the fire with a 60 table, but with the proper lighting your brilliant stone will still have amazing fire. I''m deciding on a stone right now that''s essentially a 60/60 (59 table, 59.7% depth), and I love love love the light return (there is a centered inclusion I''m deciding about). I think you get a great mix of colored and white light return. And with your stone being a G VS1, this sounds like a great possibility.

i think you''ll find the older generation jewlers still prefers the 60/60 cut,were the younger generation prefers the modern ideal cuts.i had my wife''s 60/60 stone recut into a modern H&A stone, but it lost .32ct (1.47ct to a 1.15ct) after the recut.

yep,even to this day my old timer jeweler will swear on the bible that a 60/60 stone is ideal.

Why do those who consider smaller tables better feel that way?

one more thing, my GF do not like the setting make the diamond stick out too high because she has to wear gloves when doing expriment. So does name internet vender can make lower setting.

Yes, you can ask for the diamond to be set lower if you have chosen a solitaire setting, shouldn't be a problem. The Holloway Cut Advisor will say if there is a risk of a fisheye, I ran the numbers through it and it wasn't mentioned - it should be fine.

One more concen about buying diamond from internet is that I can not see the diamond in person. So there is no way to sure it is "eye clean". I just wonder if it is possible to judge from the type and location of inclusions listed on its certification. like avoid black inclusions or small cloud? etc.

Actually I am consider buying a largest VS2 or SI1 diamond, clolor H+ within my budget. I saw some people complain about the inclusion in some vs2 diamond. Is that common in VS2 and SI1?

According to the tutorial, 1/100 can see VS2 inclusions. VS2 inclusions can be a problem if they're black.

Many SI1s are eye-clean, but you should always check with the vendor. Don't assume it is.

I had a 60/60 stone and it was beautiful, even set low in a semi-bezel. It was however a SI1 and the tiny inclusion was visible. The honest PS jewelers will let you know if it''s eyeclean, but ask them their definition of eye clean. I have an SI2 now that I was told was eye clean, but I believe their definition was 3 feet away or something. I can only see the inclusion within inches.......but then again it''s an amazing stone and I''m not bothered by it. Some might be.

60/60 stones have their supporters because "typically" there are some pluses to the cut. Many times it produces more white light - hence giving the diamond an "appearance" of more white. Also, they tend to be spready. Many stones do suffer on fire. It''s personal.

Does the vendor have the stone in their stock to be able to eyeball it for you?
