What do "VG 14k" stand for???

I bought this diamond ring on-line. The seller said it was 14k white gold but the ring actually stamped "VG 14k"...what is that???
 
could it be a maker''s stamp?
 
I have no idea. Just a wild guess - vermiel gold in 14 kt? However, it is more likely to be the maker's stamp if it is a custom made item.
 
my money is on maker mark and purity.Contact seller and then let us know what they say!
