What cut stone to choose?

To continue on my previous post...

I have decided to go with a micopave/halo with a round center stone about 1 carat in size and looking to spend between 5000-7500 on the stone. Based on the fact that I am looking at this ring, what kind of dimensions should I be looking on the center stone. Here is where I get way way lost. I guess if someone could give me some more guidance/knowledge would be good also. It seems to me the crown/pavilion angle ratio would be one of the important factors, yes/no? I also need to figure out how the gf feels about florencents. I am not sure if she would care if there where say like a blue. Furthermore, the one thing I do know....and i feel this is common amoung most girls is that she wants it to glitter and "bling" With this type of ring, what dimensions and any other factors should I be looking at in a center stone?

For angle measurements you want to get Ideal measurements. This will get the best sparkle out of the stone. There are a lot of different combinations that will give an ideal cut diamond. Have you read GoodOldGold.com''s tutorial on diamond cut? That is the tutorial I read when first learning about all this stuff and it was very helpful. Also, use the tool on PS, the HCA scoring tool under Tools, Cut Advisor. If you plug angles into it it gives you a theoretical evaluation of how it will perform.

The crown and pavillion angles are crucial to a diamond's beauty, so very important! You need to take into account when choosing a diamond:

depth
table
crown angle
pavillion angle
girdle thickness

Flourescence....many PSers like it, usually faint to med blue is not a problem, can be beneficial in lower colours as it can help a diamond to face up whiter. It is rare, but occasionally strong blue can make a diamond look oily or cloudy in strong UV or sunlight, check with the vendor if you choose a diamond with strong. My diamond has faint to med flourescence and it isn't noticeable for the most part, except in some sunlight but you have to really look to notice it, the diamond takes on a sort of violety glow which is really pretty!
For the glitter and bling with a diamond, this has everything to do with cut quality, no other factor has as much influence on beauty, so do not compromise on cut whatever you do!
