:wavey: Need some advice. I’m thinking about repainting our front door. Our options are limited (at least it seems) bc our door is flanked by stained glass panels. It’s hard to see the colors in the outside pic so I took one from the inside as well. We’ll likely replace the screen door too - with one that’s glass from top to bottom.

Can’t wait to hear your ideas!

I love a deep darker red front door, and I have one. Your sidelights are beautiful!

Those are gorgeous sidelights! I also immediately thought a nice deep red colour.

My mind went in a different direction, I thought a emerald green would be lovely.

It’s called New Orleans green. I’d have to find it. I don’t know if it is an actual color, but in New Orleans you can go in any paint store and ask for it, lol.

It’s like a forest green with black in it so it’s a dark flat forest green I suppose.

But I’m partial because that is what I painted my front door in New a Orleans on my White House lol.

It could be called French quarter green.

It’s more like this color

Any of the colors in the side windows would look great. I vote for either the red or the blue.

Black would really pop the colors!

What color is the roof and what style house do you have?
I am assuming that all the siding and window trim are white.
Any brick on the house or is it all aluminum?
It looks like you have perhaps storms or energy panels over the sidelights that look like they are silvery aluminum. Can you live without those or is there a chance you could get new sidelight storms that match the white trim?
I have a white traditional house with white window/door trim. I painted the front door a glossy black and painted my sidelights as well and am happy with it. But if you painted your sidelights the color of the door I think it would draw attention to your aluminum sidelight storms. Visually I think it would look better with the aluminum gone and sidelights and door painted the same color.

Google 'white house with (your roof color) roof' and get some ideas. If your roof is tan, for example, then blue might not work.

I would actually do a yellow door

I'd do a dark red or dark green

I would do the bright blue. I also like the idea of yellow. I think bright doors are more modern.

My house is white. the trim and gutters are brown. Overall look is midcentury modern. Door used to be brown but I went with Tiffany blue. Now, depending where you go, of course they tell you " we can't make that color" but I had the damn box with me:lol-2: wink, smile, and of course I got my color. My door isn't visible from the street, so you'd have to walk up to it to see it.

I'd pick a color (or 2) from your stained glass (which is really gorgeous!!) One for the trim outside, the other for the door. Maybe even change your screen door? what style house is it?

I recently saw a home with a deep blue front door. It was beautiful

Just this week one of my neighbors painted their front doors an aqua/turquoise color. I think it's gorgeous! Would go with your existing panels too.
I totally just walked down my driveway and took a picture for you!

Thank you!! So many good ideas! To answer some questions:

I’d never thought of changing the trim on the storm panels. But I’d be open to that! The porch is covered so maybe we could live without.

The top half of the house is dark drown cedar shakes. They’re showing a good bit of wear so we’ve got to make a decision about those.

The house style is American four square (built in 1926)

What about ochre? I think it can add a nice pop of color and contrast nicely with the green in a yard. depends on the shade of white of your house, though.

My first thought was red.

Dark teal and egg yolk are fantastic colors for that style.

My vote is turquoise or red. These are the colors that immediately popped into my head when I saw your lovely stained glass side panels.

I would pull that teal color from the trim of the stained glass and do it at about 75% saturation.

Because i love light blue doors...

Otherwise, I would do yellow.

Red to match the dots in the door!

Turquoise blue gets my vote.
