What changes would you make to the center of the ring here? I''m not sure if I like it as is. Any ideas?

Thank you.

it''s very high. (I like high - like a cathedral setting). but, do you like high?

Thinner prongs - definitely. Those look blocky and substantial (almost overwhelming) to me.

Also, don''t like to odd bowtie thing going on in the gallery below the basket. It doesn''t look fluid.

Those prongs are like 4 big, blocky PILLARS. Not graceful or attractive at all. I''d thin them out and maybe taper them to a point at the prong tips. I''d also scale back on all the engraving too. There''s a lot going on there.

of course everyone''s taste is different... I would take out the thing under the diamond... the blocky prongs don''t bother me... and if it were mine, I''d probably take the scrolls out under the sides and leave it open... but I like the detail and detail on the ring itself. Mostly though if you like the ring the way it is, I''d just open it up a bit so its easier to clean.

The first thing I noticed were the prongs - I'd definitely thin those out. I'd also probably put surprise diamonds where the bow thingy is in the middle. Or get rid of the bow and put surprise diamonds in the swirls on the sides.

The ring will be set with a 1 carat emerald cut diamond. I appreciate all the suggestions about the prongs. I do agree they''re too bulky and will be sure to get those made thinner.

Do you have any specific suggestions as to what kind of prongs to get for an EC??? I was so concerned with the pave/milgrain that I overlooked the prongs.

Also, do you think it would be safe to remove the basket and let the diamond be a little more suspended. My jeweler said he could do it, but he made it sound like it''s not the best idea. I think it might be nice to show more of the diamond. Thoughts?

As always, I thank you all for your help!!!

I''m not picturing that setting very well with an emerald cut. It seems like since the prongs go all the way down to the base, in order to hold an emerald cut stone, that part would stick out from the top and bottom of the band and make it hard to fit with a wedding band.

I don''t think I''d like this setting with an Emerald cut...

Are they planning on making the basket thingie square instead of round?
