Hi everyone,

I''m still new to the diamond world, and while I''m learning more about diamonds in general, I want to learn more about my e-ring. My FI spent a lot of time choosing the stone and I love it, but I want to educate myself more about its quality in terms of the cut, depth, etc.

Here are the specs:

GIA Cert
Cushion Brilliant
Measurements: 7.76 x 7.07 x 4.19 mm
Carat Weight: 1.54 carat
Color Grade: E
Clarity Grade: VS1
Depth: 59.3%
Table: 64%
Girdle: Extremely Thin to Slightly Thick, Faceted
Culet: Small
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Fluorescence: None

Is there more information that I should include? Also, based on the pictures, can you tell whether it''s a modern cushion cut and whether there are 8 main pavilions? I still have grasped that concept yet. It sparkles like crazy in candle light and under spot lights, but looks as white as ice in daylight or indoors (fluorescent lights in the office).

Thanks for all your help!

You managed to locate one of the older facet styles (antiquey/chunky) that are high in demand, however amongst cushions with this facet structure they can embody a number of appearances depending on the proportions and the angles of the various facet sets from crown/pavilion combos to upper/lower half angles. I''m about to do a clip on this subject actually (as soon as I get back a particular chunky I have at GIA) as I have many on hand of the various appearances. You can see a lot of these in a clip I''ve shot entitled "41 Cushions".

Enjoy!

Thanks Rhino, I look forward to seeing your video!!

Like I''ve read in several posts, each cushion is unique in its own way and the picture doesn''t do the stone justice. I can see the definition of the chunky facets in real life that don''t show on the picture.

I will post the angle and table crown proportions once I go home and look at my certificate.
