I purchased a ring and am having second thoughts about the cut. I''m trying to figure out if I got a good price and will I be able to resell it? Here is the information I have which was appraised via G.I.A gemologist:
Grading - IGG
F Color, very high sparkle
VS2-SI1 Enhanced
RADIANT Cut
Weighing 0.75 Carat

What''s it worth and what can I re-sell it for?
The jeweler says he will provide me with the same quality round cut for $200 more, is this good?

You can use the pricescope your diamond tool on this site to see how much similar diamonds are selling for. Unfortunately since yours is now used, you won''t be getting anything near those prices.

We would need to know more about the round he is offering you to tell you if that is a good deal or not. We would also need to know the price since you only said it was $200 more but not the original price you paid.

An enhanced stone is only worth the clarity grade it was before it was clarity enhanced. You cannot use the pricescope your diamond function for this one.
As far as I know, GIA still does not grade clarity enhanced stones.
Your best bet is to take it to an independent appraiser.

There are various methods Danny. There is a company called www.yehuda.com, I believe they use a procedure similar to injecting fillers into a diamond which help make inclusions which are suitable for this treatment ( feathers etc) ' disappear', as the filler redirects the light passing through the diamond so you can't see it so well. The feather is still there and this technique apparently works in a similar manner to filling a crack in a windscreen.

Lasering is another option, these are used to break up darker inclusions. If I remember rightly GIA will grade laser drilled diamonds but not fracture filled.

This is a lot of good information so far. I did not understand the enhancement process. I wish I had founf this forum before I made the purchase, at least I did not spend too much money. Hopefully it ends up being a decent buy.

Are you in a return period by chance? I ask because this diamond will likely have no resale value at all if that is why you bought it...

This sounds like a clarity enhanced diamond graded by a Graduate Gemologist who earned
the diploma from GIA (not a GIA Gem Trade Lab gemologist).
Also, the terminology used is not consistent with terminology used by a professional gemologist.

Most diamond documents that I see for clarity enhanced diamonds reveal in very small print the abbreviation C.E.
Most sellers, not all, do not like to emphasize that their diamonds are clarity enhanced.

Be careful and purchase from a reputable seller with a good return policy.

Really, not much on the resale market. You certainly won''t make money if that is what you are hoping.

Almost no one wants an enhanced diamond. I would definitely return it, and start over.
