Today I tried on this setting. http://www.shopskatells.com/store/Artcarved-31-V396ERW-Adele-Diamond-Engagement-Ring.html
Would you consider this an appropriate setting for an AVR?

The Pros are it would make my diamond look much larger and it went well with many different styles of wedding bands including bands with milgrain and pave. My FI said he felt the diamond got a bit lost or blended in too much with the white gold setting. When we took the setting outside in natural daylight he said it looked much better.

Please share your thoughts. Is the setting too modern or too showy?

What color is your OEC ?

I was thinking of using it as my ering and putting my 1.52 L SI1 AVR in it.

Here are a few pictures my FI took in the store with one of the bands that fit nicely with it. I was amazed at how versatile the ring was with so many different wedding bands. The finger coverage is amazing! The CZ above is a 1 carat and my diamond is a 1.5 carat. My sausage finger is a size 7 (as shown).

I absolutely LOVE my AVR. I love looking at the facets and the reflections and the fire. I never get tired of it but I have not been able to find the perfect setting yet. DSS has set in so more finger coverage would be nice. I'm just wondering if this is over the top. Is FI right? Will my diamond get lost?

The last picture is my AVR and current setting. Most of the time my diamond faces up fairly white but never icy white. Only occasionally does it show noticeable tint.

Your current setting is gorgeous! But, I understand wanting a little more finger coverage. I'm not crazy about the artcarved setting. To me your setting really outshines it!

I have this setting in my inspiration folder. I absolutely love it. They make it in platinum or WG too I think. For some reason I thought of this when I saw the artcarved one. It will give the illusion of a bigger stone with the box head (I think that's what it's called), but no melee to "lose" your diamond in.

Thanks Valmanin. Would anyone else care to share their thoughts?

I love your current setting. You could look into the Vatche settings I posted for you. They are similar but have better quality.

I do like the art carved setting as well, though. So if you really loved it, go for it.

valmanin: The setting you picked is very pretty just not exactly what I was looking for.

Thanks Gypsy. The Artcarved was VERY affordable and very heavy considering it was 18K gold but I was unsure of Artcarveds quality. I will look around to see if I can find a store that has the Vatche to see IRL because they are very pretty as well. Do you think this type of setting will swallow or hide my diamond? Do you think it's just too much? I haven't received much response so I am wondering if everyone thinks its really ugly ...

It's pure personal preference. My DH didn't care for halos. And I did. So I got one. I love him dearly, but it's my ring. And now... he loves it too. Just took him a while to appreciate it.
