Found this diamond that looks interesting. I used the Holloway Cut Advisor to get a 1.1 (Excellent) rating.

The price is $11,000, which looks to be very reasonable.

Please let me know what your thoughts are!

Hello!

That diamond has a steep crown angle (35-35 degrees usually preferred), and a shallow pavilion angle.

I would definitely want an Idealscope image before I made a decision to buy that diamond, just to make sure it''s not leaking light.

PS. It has an April Fool''s Day cert date! :)

Thanks so much for the help. I am just starting to learn about diamonds, so this helps, i emailed them and once they call me, i will ask for the idealscope image. Hopefully i can figure out how to post on this website!

Any other advice would help me alot! thanks

I have to say that I''m a big fan of this crown/pavillion angle. It''s in the prime for a FIC "Firey Ideal Cut". If you like fire more than white light than this might be the stone for you. I second cleo''s suggestion of asking the vendor for an ideal scope image though to get more information on the stone.

By the way, you don''t need to go as high as F/VS1. Many SI''s are completely eye clean and the G/H range is still very white, but if you like more "pure" diamonds that''s fine too, just giving you a heads up in case you want to go larger or save money.

Big ditto to that. :)

Thanks for the info, I will do some more searching tomorrow, lowering my criteria a little and see what else i can find!

You don''t have to necessarily lower your criteria if you don''t want too. It was just pointed out that you can if you want to save a few $$ or get a better more balanced cut stone, but if you really feel you will be happy with that colour and clarity combo, then it''s up to you.

I bought a D VS2, I know I could have saved a fair bit of $$$ or got a larger stone, but my heart was set on having the icy whiteness of a D, and my mind needed to have VS clarity, even though I am fully aware that lots of SI1 are eyeclean, and I even suggest them to others, but for me, having a mindclean stone meant that combo.

We would help you look for some stones if you like to share your budget? I can work on the above stats and show you a few too (I have the day off and I am a tad bored

Alrighteo - here a a few for you to browse. These are ACAs - beautifully cut stones, you can''t go wrong (or get much better in my honest somewhat biased as an owner opinion

, seriously though, there are stunning).

I am probably leaning towards the G VS1 from WF though, great colour combo clarity and very nice size. Good luck! Feel free to ask for more suggestions or ideas if you don''t like these ones though, its totally up to you.

Thanks for everyone''s help.

My budget would be likely $7K to $13K, i was hoping to get her a good size diamond but still keeping a decent quality, maybe it''s an unfair question and likely personal preference, is there a right combo of colour and clarity? I still want her to have a diamond that really sparkles, i could likely settle for a VS2 instead or possibly drop abit on that. I am not that experience with diamonds and what''s best, so I really do appreciate everyone''s help!

If the cut is great, then any colour or clarity ( verified eyeclean) will look wonderful, so it is really up to you as to how you proceed. There is no '' right'' combo, only what is right for you, and what your GF would appreciate. A nice middleground could be G to H colour and VS2 to SI1 which is eyeclean to your standards, as a suggestion.

well, I guess i can check to see what they have for G colour VS2 diamonds....

I will report back with some searches! if anyone sees of a good one, feel free to send me the link!

thanks again.

I found this 1.20ct G VS2 H&A at GOG for $10,148 bankwire price

Just noticed honey22 posted this one earlier... it''s a lovely stone and well within your budget.

Are you no longer interested in the First stone? Maybe you could not get an Ideal Scope picture for it?
